Jan, the first day we got there it was CHUCKING it down, and we arrived at our oh-so-posh hotel absolutely dripping wet, soaking the nice marble floor lol. Our hotel was actually right by the BART (train) station, but we hadn't known that and had walked about a bit getting wet lol. The rest of the days were absolutely beautiful, apart from Saturday, which was the day we chose to go across the Golden Gate Bridge. LOL! We couldn't even see the top of the towers, and there might as well have been no bridge at all for all we saw of the view going across on the bus! We had 2-day tickets for one of those open-top tour things (cheesy but useful!) so we went back on Sunday to do it again and walked over. Beautiful weather then
Shiloh, I think my favourite part, apart from the bridge, and the shopping was the Ferry Building! It's been restored in the past few years, and has loads of really unique food stalls, cafes, shops etc. And some really nice bars, and a lovely food market at weekends.
ACTUALLY we saw someone famous in there, but I'll put that in a different thread so people will see!

but it is really beautiful.
Oh, OH!!! Someone else famous we saw! I can't remember if I posted this or not, but we saw Russell Brand! (UK comedian) He was standing on the pier when we got off of the boat from Alcatraz.... being very pleasant letting people have their pictures taken with him.... I was going to say hello, but I was too scared!
