As Pam said, reactions can be severe. I was told never to useon an animal with blue eyes or white feet (?), but I didn't get theexplanation behind it.

The MDR1 mutation in Collie dogs was identified as the gene associatedwith the toxic reaction sometimes exhibited when Ivermectin wasadministered. This gene appears to also be linked to certaincoat patterns (possibly Dutch orBlue-eyed white genes inrabbis).

Can Invomec be purchased someplace other than thevet?? It would be cheaper. I would proabably doanother round of injectables, but if we needed to do more I wouldswitch to another less expensiveform!
.... have written to themto see if they ship to Canada! Thanx!

Hey did you ever find out about this? I just saw anotherpinworm yesterday (after another month of treatments). Thevet keeps giving me the 3 doses and says it should go away - but thevet tech said it probably won't and as soon as I stop, the worms comeback no matter what I do. I might finish this round and thenjust give him the over the counter stuff once a month or so for a year.

I checked the sites and asked the companies...Iwas told to NOT use it other than for the recommended animals and thatthey don't/won't ship to Canada.:? The one product said itwas for a range of animals...but according to them one of the listedwas not rabbits! <big sigh> So here we areagain at square one! LOL

So I took the kids into the vet for another injection. So farI have only found pin worms once...most of them were the immatureform. I don't know if that is good or not. Therewere still alot though. And it appears to only be the onemale(Bummy)even the his girls don't show signs of worms in theirpoops. The vet has offered an oral form which is cheaper thatwe can continue with...but he recommends de-worming in the spring andfall. I don't know why, but I feel that I will keep treatingtill the pin worms are gone.

We have a TSC near here so I may check there for something. The injectables really work! But OUCH! It is over ahundred bucks every 2 weeks! And thanks to cecotrophyand general grooming we could be at this forever!

There are few drugs actually approved for use in rabbits, so the companies cannot recommend their use in rabbits.

Off label use is common by vets due to the lack of drugs available for rabbits.

Charlie is all done his 3 treatments of Ivermectin(it has been 10 days since his last treatment).

Today I spotted more live worms on his poo. I have moreIvermectin left - do you think it is safe to give him a 4th treatmentor just wait the 2 weeksto seeif it goesawaylike the vet suggests (which I know won't work).

This is the 2nd set of treatments I am giving Charlie - so he has had 6doses of Ivermectin so far in the last 3 months. He's getting .3CC ofIvermectin .8mg/ml Oral suspension.

Thanks!

I would go ahead and give him anotherdosage. Remember that the Ivermectin does not kill all stagesof pinworms, so treatment may need to be intensive to completelyeliminate them.

Thanks Pam! I'm going to go ahead and give him more.
