Snow Storm Forces Lambert Airport Shutdown

KSDK Lambert-St. Louis International Airport shut down early this morning during the height of the snowstorm.

Airport spokesperson Jeff Lea says the airport was closed from 1:00 am to 3:30 am because the snow was falling too fast for workers to keep runways clear. Planes were unable to land or take off safely. The airport reopened when snowfall slowed.

At last check, two runways are successfully cleared. The first flights took off from Lambert around 6:00 am.

At last check, 35 flights have been cancelled through noon. There are also many delays.

Airport officials expect more cancellations as the snow storm moves out of the area.

oh no!!!!!!!!!! now what!?!?! hopefully, they can come tomorrow. at least the airport is making sure it's safe for both humans and bunnies alike though. hopefully the pilot can make the flight at another time!!!!!!

Joann called me last night while I was at work and I got her messag this morning.

On my end its not looking good, but if on their end it would work, Doug said he could fly the bunnies to his home from CA to CO and we'd work it out from there.

Its snowing again and I havent heard any updates yet.

MAN! I was hoping it missed you all like it did us. We got some of it but it melted off early this morning and now it's just a snow. North of me got him bad.

I just checked the Lambert website again and it looks like most of the flights that have gotten canceled were coming in from areas like Chicago and Indiana that also got snow. As of now, the flights from Denver look to be doing fine. I haven't heard from anyone yet though so I am not sure what exactly is going on.

Same here in Michigan, flights are coming and going but flights from Chicago are cancelled or delayed.

I haven't heard anything yet, so I'm going to be heading off to bed. I HOPE this all works out today.

I do have to work tonite. I'll be working from 9:30pm - 5:30 am.

Melissa, I can meet you anytime this weekend to get them if they do end up coming today. From the sound of it it may still work out.

Ok, I will keep checking the flight to make sure it gets in. I am going to send an email to Joann now and ask her to let me know if she finds out that they didn't make it on one of the flights. I have a vet appointment for the boys on Saturday morning but I am free pretty much the rest of the weekend.

They are here safe and sound. I just got home and got them settled in. They really are precious! Mat came with me and one the way home I was holding them and they were both grooming me, it was sweet.

Yep they were licking me. I think they were thankful to be out of that carrier. I am sure they had a long day. I got some pictures but you guys are going to have excuse my mess in the background. This week has been beyond crazy with everything so I'm afraid my house is a bit of a disaster. :?

This is the little guy. . . (girl? I don't know, I haven't even had a chance to look at their info yet and I never asked so I'm not sure what their names are or anything yet)
