Well my HP (garbage) hard drive is just about ready for the Garbage, so I need to get a new one.

We want a very powerful one that has lots of Mega Bytes, Giga Bytes what ever the bytes are called. Can you tell I'm not the swiftest when it comes to buying computer parts. LOL

Can I please get advice on what are good brands and one with lots of memory, so I'll need the numbers here. (I told you I wasn't the smartest when it comes to computers).

Thanks

Susan:)

Are you going to be looking locally - or buying online?

My family LOVES NewEgg.com for computer parts- plus you can read reviews there.

I wish I could give more/better advice....but oh well...that is the limit of my knowledge. I would say go with the biggest hard drive and fastest speed you can afford though...

I looked tonight for you, Susan and NewEgg and ZipZoomFly don't ship outside the US:grumpy:. But, definitely read the reviews on all the hardrives.

While on the subject, I would stay away from Western Digital! Get Samsung or this new thing called Seagate. They sound good. Have Chris do some reviewing though.;)

Look into NCIX.com, they are a local Vancouver shop, and they should ship across Canada as well. They always have really good products and prices.

Most hard drives now a days are huge, so I don't think finding one big enough is going to be a problem. Qaulity is getting pretty standard as well. The biggest thing to look into is which one has the best warrenty, some have much better warrenties than otheres.

My computer savvy boyfriend suggests the brands Western Digital or Seagate.

Only reason I mentioned not to get Western Digital is because we had a CD RW drive from them and it didn't last long at all, I was disappointed. Not sure about their hard drives.

Between our family members we have four computers....that are continually getting upgraded (so it seems). We used to go with Western Digital but the last couple we got from them (hard drives) we were NOT pleased with and felt like we had to replace them sooner than later. I think Art has really prefered Seagate but would buy them because of our budget....anyway - we're now trying to stay away from Western Digital and stick with Seagate...

I couldn't remember the names for sure until I talked to Art...
