We've had our male Cali, Pinkerton, for 2.5 years. He was neutered at about five months of age and has been a perfect gentleman toward me during all this time--until last night.

I cuddled and pet him while he sat atop his pet carrier--nothing unusual. Before I knew it, he gripped my right forearm (which was against/around his chest) and started trying to hump it. He repeated the behavior three more times, so there was no mistaking what he was attempting to do.

I'm just curious to know if he was likely trying to dominate me or mate with me. (My hubby thinks that Pink views me as a fellow rabbit and, so, was attempting to get amorous. Heh.)

Thank you,

Jenk

It could be either or. Regardless, shake Pink off before he thinks you're a pushover. My female (who will be spayed in a month) was doing the same to me yesterday. She was probably trying to dominate me, that punk!:pssd: I decided to let her know who was really the boss. Every time she tried to get off her two front paws to grab my hand, I would keep her planted on the floor. After repeating this several times, she gave up and has not tried it since. :p

I immediately shook him off/removed my arm with each attempt to dominate (or mate with) my arm. Heh.

I laughed at you calling your domineering female a punk; we refer to our one female, Emma, a punk often.

also, some if they are enjoying something will do this behavior. I've a fuzzy lop buck that any time he is brushed, while sitting in your lap he just starts humping. A lady was checking him out this past weekend at a show and while rubbing her hands all over him he enjoys it and just started humping. His behavior is because he enjoys what you do to him lol..... his may be the same.

In all the time that I've cuddled/petted him in my enclosed arms, he's never done this. But I suppose that he could decide to start at any time. Heh.

They are saying happy hump day!
He could've at least waited until Wednesday. Hmph! ;)

it could honestly be a number of things that would trigger him to do this. Maybe you had some odd smell on you? that'll do it.
I don't know what odd smell I might have worn that day, but... Now that I think about it, the towel my boy was sitting on has dried urine on it (from one of our girls). Typically, he jumps on that towel to dig on it (and sometimes to nip at it, which I stop). So maybe it was the combo. of being stimulated with petting and smelling another bun's urine that made him lose his lil' bunny mind.

Before we got Spike and Peter neutered, they use to clamp down on my son's arm when he would reach into their hutches although they never did it to me. I just told him, "thy really like you!"
Did your son believe you? LOL

I jokingly call my boy "Big Dawg" because he exhibits certain dog-like behaviors. After he humped my arm, I said to him, "You really are just a big dawg."

my female used to hump me alllll the time, i couldn't walk past her without her latching on (i had horrible bruises all over my legs i was embarrassed to wear shorts!) when i had her spayed that pretty much stopped, but she would try it now and then. it was quite embarrassing when somebody would ask what happened how did i get all those bruises and i had to admit it was my rabbit humping me, and a female rabbit at that! :embarrassed:

I can only imagine the looks you must've received! LOL

Guy tries to hump my hand often but he's an un-neutered male who adores me and loves any pets/fuss - its like they excite him more, lol.

He is friends with my Dad but never does it to him, it's as if he can smell the difference between male and female.

Be careful if a humping bunny nips during it tho - sharp teeth alert.
