In actuality, it's quite annoying.

I have two properties, one here in town - on the outskirts of town really, but a very widespread subdivision.. And one about an hour and a half away. I generally spend equal time at both places but over the next two weeks I'll be here more than there.

Anyhow, a few weeks ago people were coming through the subdivision advertizing cable TV, deck work etc. I was out in the yard when the cable people made it my way. The guy looked at me, asked if I live here and I said yes. He then asked if my parents were home and I told him I wasn't sure so he asked me if I'd go check. I agreed (as I held back laughter) and got my cell phone. I called my parents house, Mom answered and I told her the cable guy wanted to know if she was home....

Two weeks ago I called a fence company about having this yard done. They wouldnt return my calls so I finally "caught" the guy when he answered the phone at one point. He was pretty abrupt with me and let me know I needed to leave "business calls" to the head of household "which, HONEY, means your parents".

I *just* got off the phone with another fence company... I got the usual "honey" routine but at least there is hope that the guy who does estimates will call me back when he gets to work, around 9-9:30am. Its a bit of a shame, considering they're almost 45 minutes away from me but really, if the local companies want to act like JERKS - I can spend the money elsewhere.

:biggrin2:My mother used to get that all the time. After she had kids they all just thought she was the babysitter. I remember her telling me a similar story about someone coming to the door and asking if her parents were home. While it can be annoying when you need to do business, just remember, you will get the last laugh because you will look GREAT at 50, 60 and 70, etc! At least that's what she always told meso enjoy it while you can!

Your story reminds me of the part in the movie Pretty Woman where Julia Roberts goes back into the store where the wouldn't help her with all her bags and asks the woman if she works on commission. When the woman responds yes, she says "Big mistake, Huge!" and leaves with all her bags saying she has more shopping to do. Too bad you can't do that to the fence guy.

LOL :pI love that you called your mom to ask if she was home. Lmbo. I understand what you are saying. It sucks that they are rude though :?

My mother went through the same thing and now it's starting with me. Once, I was rushed to the hospital for an asthma attack and the doctor was refusing to treat me because he thought my mother andI were yanking his chain. She finally had to take out her id cards and have him compare them to mine. LOL. :pMeanwhileI was giving Wheezy from Toy Story a run for his money but the doc didn't seem as concerned... :p

i have the opposite problem at the moment! we were at a home school convention last Friday and Saturday and one of the vendors asked me if i was a Senior! y'all should have seen the look on his face when i told him i was going into ninth grade..............!!!

My Nan told me a story about this once, she said she went to get her child benefit from the post office and the lady behind the counter said 'i'm sorry, but you need to get a note from your Mother with her signature on it if you are going to pick up her benefits for her'.

I getthat all of the time... I am 36 and still get carded for lotto tickets ... they think my 17 year old daughter is my sister most of the time... I agree that it is annoying... my oldest sister who is 40 also has the same problem...

Well, it's almost noon now and I haven't gotten a return call but it's raining and when I called I told them I wanted someone to come out to measure and give me quotes... I went to city hall this morning and bought a building permit (good for 6 months) so something had better get going soon. It seems like I've had nothing but setbacks since I bought this place!

I am so glad you called your mother to see if she was home, this cracked me up! I'm going to keep that one in my back pocket. I had someone call once and ask if my dad was home... I said that he wasn't since he didn't live here. He paused... I told him if he had to speak to a man he could speak to my husband if he'd like. It annoys me sometimes, but most of the time I just laugh now. It just gets old getting asked for ID all the time.. in Anchorage Alaska once they wouldn't take my Canadian drivers license, Passport, Health card (which is photo ID) nothing... apparently they don't accept Canadian ID and I looked too young to get a beer at this pizza place! I had a whole bag full of picture ID... It must have taken me a long time to make up all that fake ID! LOL. My husband freaked - but he does all the time. :p

I agree with Kirst3buns - just think how good you'll look when you are 50 and 60! It's great :)But that would seriously tick me off about thefence companies - I'd ask them if they'd earn to money or if they have enough they don't need to work anymore.

I worked at a Dairy Queen in Jr. High and High School. The new owner was having trouble so I went to work with him to train his other employees. Long story short he looked like he was 15 and I was 15 and looked in my twenties. Everytimenew venders would come in and ask to speak to the manager Mark would say he was at which point they would ask to talk to me. I loved it but he didnt think it was all that funny.lol

Woo!

I was able to get ahold of the people this morning. We set up a meeting for 10:00am on the 4th, but then the lady called to ask if someone could stop by tomorrow because he'll be in this town anyway... she just hadn't realized that.

I have to get a new tire tomorrow (Ive had a long time leaker, but Bo B Bunny's post scared me enough to get it worked on) but that should be done in the morning, and the fence people will be out early in the afternoon.

The bad thing is my sleep is all messed up. I work 3rd shift and have bot gotten enough sleep this week even though it was a holiday weekend and I took Monday off work.

I am so excited about the fence though!!

..

Well, it's 11:22 am and the lady is on her way to my house now. :)
