Today I brought the new bun home. I set her on ly lap for the drive home, and when we got home there was a wet patch where her mouth/nose had been. Later hwen I put her in her cage, her nose/mouth was still running. I went and asked if that was normal and Mom said not reallly. now I am worried that this bun had something and will pass it on to Simi. Im not sure if its drool, or snot. PLEASE, I am FREAKING Out thinking that I might have just brought something in that can/will kill my Simi. Anyone know anything about this, or, have any tips.

Please! :(:(:(:cry2:cry2

Dry her face. Keep an eye and figure where its coming from. Keep her very far away from Simi. Wash your habds and so on after touching her. Once you figure where it is coming from we can try and help you more.

Thanks, Mom is coming to look at her now... The thing is I just had that cage near Simi... And the cage is in my room along with SImis, shouldI put her out in the barn for the night????

Hi Just qurious how hot of a day was it there? does the car you brought her home in have A/C? when a rabbit over heats there mouth and nose area tends to get wet from excesive panting there ears will flatten to allow for more blood flow to help cool them. If it was hot and you had no ac in the car she may have just been way to hot.

Is it white or yellow snot or is it just wet?

A wet muzzle is a sign of overheating.

Pasturella isn't all that easy to catch, it can be transmitted through the air, but not that easily.

Cool and calm the new bunny and see how it goes. Meanwhile follow the other advice above -- wash and change outter clothes after handling the new one, keep them in separate rooms.

Keep an eye on the new bunny.

I'm sure Simi will be fine.

sas :)

Just calm down, it's probably nothing to worry about. Both Pebbles and Bruno had a damp nose when I brought them home, although Bruno seems to still have a bit of a sneezy nose because of the dust.

Sometimes when a bunny is stressed they will breathe heavier and the moisture from their breath will accumulate on their nose/mouth, nothing too major. Just keep an eye out for mucosy discharge and sneezing. Is it thick or sticky? Or is it just moist like saliva?

Take a few deep breaths, everything will be alright!

Im so sorry guys, I think she was just worked up from the ride to my house, or was hot. Shes fine now, theres no more drool, i(t wasnt yellow or slimy or anything. )

Shes eating and drinking and pooping and peeing. She seems a-okay!

I dont know when the last time she was handled was, and shes pretty fat, I think me taking her out of her cage and putting her in a strange place might have just freaked her out, and she got hot or stressed. As I said, shes fine now... Shes still in my room, but on the other side of my room.

When I brought her home she laid right down on her belly first thing, she doesnt mind me sticking my hand in the cage, and loves to be cuddled. :) I will take pics soon, and I am SO SORRY for freaking you guys out, but I really appreacitehow fast you guys replied. So again, THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

And Spring, you really helped me. I just needed someone who had the same peoblem to clam me down. Not that I dont think the other posts didnt help... :) THANK YOU!

NEVER be afraid. It is ok. We all freak and it's good to voice are fears and concerns.

Glad I could help! Double:yeahthat:

So much better to ask and have it turn into nothing, than not to ask and have a sick bunny! Glad everything seems ok :).

one of my rabbits had that on a VERY hot day during a two hour car ride. Mine did that because it was overheating. To me that's what it sounds like was going on with your rabbit, but i'm not expert. Hope this helps you some how.

I had one that just didn't like car rides and would drool the whole time, her chest used to end up soggy, it seems to be a stress reaction in some buns

Thanks so much everyone! Shes fine today, and they are both settled in. Simi doesnt seem to mind another bun in the house... They seem VERY curious to meet each other, ubt I am gonna wait a bit.

Congrats on the new addition to your household! I guess the male bunnies you were looking into didn't work out.

I'm glad that she is better, but I would still keep her separated from Simi for a while and keep an eye on the "drool" issue. If it happens again in the next few days, note the conditions (weather, etc.). Better to keep her at a safe distance from Simi and use precautions (hand washing, etc.) than risk exposing Simi to any illness.

Chances are the new gal was just overheated, but it might be good to be cautious.

Let us all know how things are going.
