So as some of you know, i just adopted another rabbit, named Sabriel.

DOB: September 25 2009
Breed: Dutch
Place adopted: Michigan Humane Society, he was a surrender.
Food: I just got him today, I don't know what his previous diet.or housing was. He's currently not litterbox trained (he's really bad at it, tips would be appreciated)

Well, he's got something wrong with his front paw! It's his left one.

it's pink.. and short.. i dunno. it's weird. it doesn't seem to bother him, but i know rabbits are good at hiding pain. and i know for sure it's not a claw! it's too round and thick.

and he's got dried wetness on the top of his nose?

please someone helppp.

provided he has all his toe nails,,this looks like an abscess,,it may pus out eventually but it will need dvm care first,/culture.,and put on antibiotics--.sorry..sincerely james waller

thank you two for answering... i'm really worried... i'll be taking him to the vet soon... we can't tomorrow due to it being easter...

The nose thing is probably just a bit of a runny nose due to the stress of changing homes. Don't worry about that, but it is good to get the toe thing seen. Did the Humane Society give him a vet check? We get bunnies with papillomas, mostly on the ears, but we make sure the adopters know. He's really adorable.

thank you everyone! i managed to check both of his paws last night, and it appears that he has one less toe on his left paw, which happens to be the one with thebump. it appears he had an accident and is now missing half his toe, i believe. it doesn't look open or infected.

we're still taking him to the vet though!

I see. It could be an infection under the skin, in an abscess. Definitely get it checked out to see if that's it, or if it's the papilloma Randy mentioned.

The rescue didn't notice it? Their vet may have already looked at it. Did they neuter him?

It just looks like a missing nail and/or bit of toe to me, his mom may have groomed it off when he was a baby. Unless its sore to the touch, it feels hot, looks discolored or has moisture or pus seeping from it, its unlikely to be an issue. Abscesses can appear as just bumps, but I doubt that's the case here.

I'd contact the rescue, it probably won't cost them or you anything to have their vet take a quick look if they hadn't already done so.

I took Sabriel to the vet (for free!) and the vetrinarian said that it's an old injury from where his claw had come completely off, and it's fine, and is not infected. We just have to make sure it stays fine!
