I talk to mine pretty much whenever I interact with them or see them or whenever they do anything! Not talking to them would be really weird for me. Sometimes my husband has to leave the room because he can't stand the goofy baby talk
This is kind of funny, I have 0 problem talking to animals but I feel weird talking to babies. Particularly really young babies. Not after they turn 1 or so though. I'd imagine once I have my own kid I'll get over it, if not I'll MAKE myself get over it since talking to babies is so important for their language development.
I don't have rabbits anymore, but when I had, or when I see one (wherever they may be) I speak to them. They are very intelligent, I believe they understand what we mean, either by the way we speak, or voice, or whatever else.
Talk to my bunnies all the time! You have to. They need to know your voice as well as your touch. Also the tone of your voice. That's how they measure their security.
Yep, constantly. The minute I walk in the door after work I ask them, "How are things in the life of the bunny world?"
Then there are the nicknames, the silly songs I sing them, and the "bunny call" to bring them to food dishes - "gerfleurgen!" which has no meaning but reduces my husband to giggles and smiles.
I'm constantly talking to the animals, the rabbits and cats in particular because they are so responsive. They all know their names, that middle names mean they are in trouble (some look ashamed, while others binky HA!), silly songs with changed lyrics (I like big bunns for Sophie, Bad bad bunny brown for Gary etc.) it's like they each have their own theme song. I even read bunny stories out loud. They get one chapter per night before bed.
I jabber all the time to my crew. Sometimes they think I'm talking to them even when I'm talking under my breath to myself. Whoops...!
I think my talking to them soothes them, but it probably soothes me even more. I do the housewife thing while my husband works and the kids are at school. It gets mighty lonely without talking! My dog has a lot of verbal and hand commands, so I'm constantly talking to him also.
I brux a lot when I hold them. I used to have pet rats so I got used to making the sound back at them when they would ride on my shoulders. Bruxing is that soft tooth grinding sound they make, not the Ouch! I hurt tooth grinding. Sometimes I can get Molly to brux back at me
I talk to my bunnies, actually all my animals, all the time! Whenever I see them I taqlk, I think they like the sound of a voice and understand snippets of what I say. Babbitty knows some voice commands and all my bunnies know their names, so I must talk to them an awful lot
I talk to my animals constantly... They are like my children... And I would never not talk to my kids idk how much cookie the bun understands but the dogs seem to know just what I'm saying, when I talk to them like when I ask them "where's papa?" they go to the windows... Or where's cookie? They go in the kitchen and sit next to cookies pen and ever.single.time. I say mamma loves you! I get a kiss
I also talk insensately to babies... Even newborns! I can't help myself
I talk to Natasha all the time. I think that's how she has developed such a large vocabulary, and it's amazing how much she recognizes.
It's especially nice when she hops into the room and sits looking at me - I say, "Hello Natasha!", she does a BIG binky and runs over for some attention. It's like she was just waiting to be recognized, and just having Dad say her name gets her excited.
My buns must think i'm mental! I constantly talk to them a weird baby voice! ahaha, i couldn't not talk to my bunnies. I love it when i shout out of my window 'Alice!' and she runs out of her cage and starts getting excited, but if my friend (a stranger to Alice) shouts her name she doesn't do anything. Bunnies know who you are by your voice, their so intelligent!
