Art & Robin & I got to the polls right around 7 am (when they open) and we were in line about 15 minutes....not too bad.

I was shocked at how long the line was when we got there...

Got there at 7:40 a.m. and left by 8:15 a.m. When I left, the line was even shorter - probably 20 minutes total time. Not bad at all!

I voted Saturday and waiting in line for 1hr 45 min. That's actually not too bad here. Some polling stations had waits up to 5 hours

The polling stations opened up today at 6:30am and they had people waiting in line since 5am to get their votes in.

Will & I voted on Friday. We were in line for less than a half an hour? It took us a bit longer once we got up to the voting booths because I didn't know I wasn't registered :p I could have SWORN I was registered out here... Whoops... I had to fill out my shenanigans while the crabby poll lady was giving me the evil eye... Total time voting; 30-45 minutes :D

We went early - there were only a couple other people there.

We live in a very small town. The poll workersnot only know who everyone is, but they also know what time they'll show up at the polls LOL

About 5 min today! But I will say traffic is utter hell here in AZ because John McCain is here and Palin is flying in in a few hours.

LAME.

Same here. Very small town, know us my name and house but they still verify who we are and check off the ID. They always know to send my DH to the kitchen to get cookies. One of the pleasures of a small town.

I'm in a small town too, there was only one guy in there voting when we arrived and no one in line. So about ten minutes what with hauling my son's stroller around and all, LOL.

We voted early on Saturday and were there 30-45 minutes total. There were quite a few people in front of us but the line moved quickly.

i am going as soon as hubby gets home from work and i hope i dont have to stand long, maybe i can pretend that my water broke and they will let us butt to the front!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! lol

As a Canadian observer, I am not familiar with your voting and your ballots. How many names are on the ballots? And what kind of things do you vote for.

In our last Federal election, we had 5 names from 5 different parties and we had to choose one. My polling station was 2 blocks from my house, I walked over and was home in 5 minutes. :D

I was watching it on telly (everyone lining up) and I was wondering if it was any of you on telly hehe!!

I don't know what you all look like so it wouldn't really help LOL!

Hi Stan, Here is what the Ohio sample ballot looked like

http://thevoterguide8.cleveland.com/race-index.do

Every one in the state votes on President and Ohio Attorney General. Ohio had 6 statewide issues all of us could vote on except that Issue 4 was withdrawn prior to the election.

My county, Medina is the 13th federal congessional districts so the 2 candiates from our districts appear on my ballot. The other districts are not shown.

It's the same for for State Senate and State House, only the district where I live is shown on my ballot. Ohio Supreme Court and the appropriate court of appeals appears on my ballot.

Since we live in Medina County, only the issues and candiates for Medina County appear on my ballot. City issues will not appear unless it happens that my town, Hinckley, has particular levies like school or fire. This time or townshio no specific levies.

On the list tha appears for Medina County, we could vote all the way down to Medina County Probate/Juvenile. We skipped everything from Brunswick Hills through Cloverleaf because those are not our town or district. Medina County Health levy was on the ballot because it's county wide. Sometimes we get school tax levies and or volunteer fire department levies.

You will notice that metropolitan areas like Cuyahoga County (Cleveland) and Summit County (Akron) have lots more on their ballots then those of us in the country.

I hope that helps understand the convolutions a little... In Ohio we can have citizen initiatives that get put on the ballot based on petitioning. Many states do not have citizen initiatives and would need to go through the lawmakers to get a referendum.

Basically this election we are voting for 1 federal office and a lot state and local issues. In 2 years we will have another election which will include some federal offices, some state issues (ie governor here in Ohio)and some local issues.

Hubby went at 6 a.m. when they opened, and he stood for an hour and a half. I went in cause he said the line was getting shorter....... and it was still a 40 min wait, but I left cause I had to work.

So..... I worked, and went back later. It was about 1:45 and I was out by about 2:25. That wasn't bad but I usually don't have to wait at all.
