I am knocked off of my feet!

I had no idea that rabbits could climb.

We've had baby Dwarf Hotots that would climb up the side of the cageall the way to the top! Rabbits can even climb up trees orfence posts.

I never had a clue they could climb. That's great! :) Especially a little dwarf hotot!

Here's an excerpt from the following site

Climbing.
Outgoing, rambunctious rabbits like to climb furniture, challengingthe general statement that rabbits are happiest on the ground. Likemountain climbers, they enjoy both the thrill of the climb and the viewfrom the top. Set up a series of boxes which are stabilized at thebottom, so that your rabbit can safely climb from level to level. Somecommercial cat trees are great for rabbits as well, as they provideperches at the top of each level. You can use ramps to help your littleexplorer get onto the tops of things (his cage, for example, coveredwith a rug), or you can use a ramp and perch combination as an end initself. And you can easily build a little condo, out of wood or (fortemporary use until it's destroyed) cardboard, with holes in the sidefor lookouts, ramps connecting the floors, and a "sundeck" on top toview the world.

From another sitehttp://animaldiversity.ummz.umich.edu/site/accounts/information/Sylvilagus_bachmani.html

"When pursued, brush rabbits climb trees and scrubs."

Megan's a climber, if you leave her cage lid openshe climbs up the bars and jumps out, she climbs the chairs, she'll tryto climb on people and anything else she can get to. She loves scalingthe rocks in our back yard....I should make her a little helmet...lol

Each morning, when we used to let our buns freerange 24/7, our, now departed, ******, would jump up on a picnic benchand from there jump to the picnic table and make one moreshort leap to the wood pile, where he would calmly survey his domain.

Having assured himself all was well, he would retrace his steps back tothe ground. It was especially endearing to us because wecould look out the window behind him and watch him scoping out the yardwithout his knowing we were there.

The official world record in high jump for rabbitsis 99,5 cm (3,26 feet) without touching the jump. They can probablyjump higher, by climbing the fence.

The official world record in long jump for rabbits is300 cm (9,84 feet).

You know, I was thinking. Bunnies are really unique creatures.

Now, think about this. Most of them don't like to bepicked up because we're told it makes them feel "insecure" ... but yetwe find out now that the little buggers not only hop high butCLIMB and don't mind getting up on high places to lookaround.

Go figure. :(

LOL it is so true. I think Apollo missed themeeting where all the bunns were told they are to love the ground. Heclimbs everything, including my leg if I don't pick him up fast enough. The only time either one of mine will jump is to binkies after a treat.
