Hello, I am looking to build a new cage for mybuns. I have a cage that is pretty nice but not big enough soI was just going to build a little pen around it so that there is moreroom. I was wondering how tall I had to make thesides. Would two NIC panels be high enough? Myrabbits area mini rex and a AFL, so they are not toobig. Let me know what you all think.

Thanks!

michelle

I was also wondering if I was to just build a complete NIC cage do Ireally need a top? I noticed that most of you have tops butis it needed???? thanks!

As far as an exercise pen, ours is just one gridhigh. None of my girls have tried to jump it, but keep an eyeout for yours. Never know...

As far as a top for the cage, it's a "better safe than sorry" kind ofthing. Yes, some people don't have tops on their bunnycages...and I'm not certain of their exact situations, but as far as myown household, we put tops on, whether we thought they would be able tojump out or not.

Just in case...:)

my bunnies would jump that..it depends on yourrabbits though. Apollo could escape from her 36'' pen,and she is asmall bunny. Sophie never tried. I would be afraid that mine would tryto jump out of the cage if it didn't have a top,but some bunnieswouldn't try. But yeah, I'd put a top on just in case.

Two panels high is what I've got my guys in. It's nice and high and you can put a small shelf in too.

Some bunnies are content to stay in a pen with no lid (Nutmeg andWildfire will) but others are just to curious to not jumpout. Zeke would never stay in a cage with no lid.

2 grids I'd put a lid on. 3 gridsmight be okay. It also depends on what you've got in therethat they could jump off.

My bunny boys have an attached play space off of their bedroom. It is 2 NIC panels high. They can't jump out.

They are about the size of Dutch rabbits, I think. Right now I think they are 4 - 5 pounds each.

I like having it two panels high anyway, since I can "step" over intotheir pen. I am short, and 3 panels high would require a chair, lol.

Hope that helps!

We had to make ours 3 panels high to keep ourguys from jumping over it! One still made it over, landedsmack in front of our other male and got a bitten ear for histroubles!:?

I use an exercise pen that is 30"high. Sparky and Scooter have lived in it for over 3 yearsand have never jumped out.
