Cocoa has been shedding A LOT lately - as I'm sure other buns are too! I got this new cat brush that works great compared to my old brush. The problem is that Cocoa won't let me brush him! (I think he's afraid of the brush) If I try to brush him while he's in his cage he'll run away and hide in his castle. I can usually brush him a little while he's out in the playpen but I know he doesn't like it. Why won't he just sit still and let me brush him? He really needs it! How do you get your bunny to cooperate?

Well I usually sit Phinn on top of a small chair, or his carrier, so that he doesnt really have anywhere to go. Then I stroke his head while brushing, and I follow each stroke of the brush with my hand, so its almost like he is getting pet.

And some calm music helps Phinn alot too :)

You can also gently remove the molting fur with your fingers. Just pull out the clumps (you won't have to pull hard, it will easily come out)

Normally Hannah will hold Buddy and stroke his head while I brush him. We need two people for him because he is a struggler. But Buddy loves the feel of the brush and he purs when I brush him.

Try patting Cocoa's head while brushing him to make him a bit calmer. I would also pick him up and sit him down in your lap or on a chair so that you can get to him.

Like Phinnsmommy said, try following each brush with your hand.

Maggie's a bit of a struggler than Belle is. But Maggie doesn't shed all too much, so that works out. Belle sheds like CRAZY. I generally do the plucking method with her, and then borrow my neighbor's furminater that she uses for her two dogs about twice a month. (but I disinfect it first, don't worry!)

I put them on a pillow on my lap for brushing. Hold gently but firmly and talk to him. Give treats during and after. You might also try letting him explore the brush. put it on the floor to help him get used to it.

Bunbuns is going through a shed aswell, i take him to the backyard and he sits on my lap, i stroke his head and brush him. When im done he always gets a craison.

Maybe you can hold him and brush him. What i also did was i let bunbuns play with the brush before i used it on him.

Do rexes shed? Because Riley has not shed one hair and he is a rex!

In my experience, they don't shed as much as other breeds. My Holland Lop sheds and moults alot and the moulting is unbelieveable! I swear 5 bunnies come out of him during one moult:shock:.

My mini rex is just now starting to shed a little, they have those fine hairs, hard to see that they are unless you look closely. I will be giving her a brushing this week;).

I wear an apron and brush them while they are on my lap. Bam-Bam doesn't like staying put much but he's been getting better each time. I prefer them on my lap because I like to watch TV at the same time and they like to snuggle.

Rexes do shed though differently and much less than other breeds. Usually they shed in small tuffs of fur and you might need to pluck it gently. That's only one of many things which is great about the rex breed. :biggrin2:
