My rabbits have always refused to eat hay nomatter how nice and fresh it was, and I suspected that reason wasbecause it was more like straw than hay. So the other day I'm out thereweeding the garden and thinking that the grass has grown really long onthe backlawn, when I wondered if I could dry my own grass out and makehay. Being almost winter here I couldn't dry it in the sun so I cut abunch and put it on top of the hot water cylinder (it's in a bigcupboard in the kitchen) in an old colinder (a pasta drainer?) and letit dry out for about 5-6 days. It made nice looking green hay like Isee everyones rabbits here eating and...wow...my rabbits actually likeit! I know I can't make heaps at once unless I get something bigger toput it in but I was very happy and hopefully can make a whole heap soonwhen I figure out a good tray or box to dry it in.
