hi im new and am getting a mini lop

Hi all im from Sydney Australia and am getting a mini lop im getting a female but now im worried as ive heard they can get aggresive is this true if you get them desexed can that calm them down ,thanks debbie

Welcome to the forum, Debbie!!:biggrin: Ah, mini lops are so cute and big. There is no certain breed that can be aggressive. They just need to be spayed/neutered to curb the aggressions and bad litter habits. How old will the bun be when u get it?

Aww, I saw some at a show and I couldn't believe the size they were, bigger than us lops. Do you have a cage style ready or thought out? The NICs are the best way to go as they're cheaper and you can design your way!

Hey Debbie! I actually have a holland lop (just like mini lops but smaller), I've had him for 6 days now and he's actually really friendly! He's already hopping over to us and licking our faces! He's not aggressive at all. I'm new to the site too and Charlie is my first bunny, and so far he seems far from aggressive, I got him at 7 weeks old so similar to when you're getting yours. It's good you're getting your rabbit from breeders, I wouldn't suggest a pet store since they are commercially bred and live under bad conditions. Anyways, I'm excited to see your new bunny when you get him/her, you won't regret it! :wink

Nikki, look at my pic, it's a Holland Lop too!:biggrin2: He's the absolute best rabbit. He's blind cuz of cataracts in both eyes, but he gets around very well. Mostly, by smell. We adore him.

our minilops only get to around 1.3kilos which is small the dwarf ones are much bigger,debbie

Hee! Glad u liked Nikki. It is a pain in the arse w/ my camera, I had a friend over, get this.
She takes a pic of a pic under a lamp at my house w/ phone, a minute later it's on FB!:shock::shock2:
I have one vid, need to get one more of him tilting his food bowl w/ his mouth, and big time, hha.

DONT BUY UNDER 8 WEEKS. i also live in sydney australia and any reputable breeder will NOT sell to you under 8 weeks. rabbits need to suckle until around 7 weeks old. there are so many great sydney breeders who will sell you a fantastic pet rabbit for very cheap. don't compromise your buns health.

I agree that they should not be taken away from mum until at least 8 weeks, and....guaranteed toilet trained at 6 weeks? I don't know how the breeder can really say that. But toilet training her yourself shouldn't be too difficult at all- some take a little while to get it, but others can be toilet trained within a week! Benji seemed to toilet train himself almost. Pippin was a bit more difficult, but eventually he got the hang of it!

I have a Mini lop (at the front of my pic ) and a dwarf lop (at the back) and they both have the most wonderful, gentle, loving temperments

I have an un-spayed femaleMini-Lop rabbit. Sheis definitelysweetly assertive but the only occasions she was agressive were when she was feeling threatened. Even at the vets, her response is to dive for cover rather than bite the vet.
