Hi. My daughter just adopted an adorable mini-lop that she named Tacoda. He is a wonderful bunny. My daughter and her friend are in 4H here in sunny Orlando, FL and they want to show their bunnies for 4H. I have never had a bunny before (almost everything else - nursing a sick turtle right now). So any tips that you might have for me would be welcomed. Thanks.

Let me welcome you to Rabbits Online, my name is Dave and I am a moderator on the forum. So if I can be of any help please let me know. This is a terrific website for rabbits and their slaves, not only is it very active but also friendly. I am so glad you’re here and I know you will enjoy it.

My daughter is in 4H here in currently wet northern Indiana. Its a great program.

Well what tip to share first, well don't feed the bunny any food with corn, seeds or other colored things in it. A good plain bunny pellet is best. Provide unlimited hay to the bun, now some rabbits are picky. I have a french lop that picks through his hay to get at certain tasty pieces. I personally prefer water bottles as opposed to crocks and the water is always clean. I also put a drop of food coloring in the water to make it easier to see how much is in the bottle. Don't give iceberg lettuce to the bun as this will cause the bun to have diarrhea. Romaine, turnip greens, red or green leaf lettuce, collard greens are ones my buns love, along with parsley. Carrots are very sugary, so only give little pieces. Dried banana, cranberries or yogurt treats are good. Like most treats give sparingly.

I don't want to overload you with info, but don't hesitate to ask any questions.

If you everhave a sick bunny, please post in Online also has regional forums , this a good way to find a vet in your area that has experience with rabbits and to find out from other nearby of good sources of rabbit supplies.

The Let Your Hare Down section is for anything non-bunny related.

Welcome to RO!

Tacoda is such a cute name! Looking forward to seeing pictures of your daughters' cute Mini Lop!

I am a 4-Her as well, and this is my 4th year. I absolutely love it, and I have learned so much, especially by being in an all rabbit/cavy 4-H club.
