Hi all,

I will start with I had never planned on having a bun bun, I love them but never really wanted to own one. Fate has changed that. While on a late night run to our local Taco Bell last thursday, we spotted a bun hopping in the field next door. Its a business area with no residences around and this little guy charged up to my hubby. We didn't have a box with us and it was very late so we came back the next night and there he was.

Now he is living in my spare room, is almost litter trained and bursting with personality. My husband is going to build him a daytime pen for the outside where we can keep an eye on him and he can get some fresh air and sunshine. He is super friendly and full of personality. Any advice?

Wow, thats so weird to find a pet bunny just hopping around all alone in the "wild". Never seen this before. He is very lucky to have such nice people save him though

hello! sounds like nacho could be an abandoned bunny! have you taken him to a vet for a checkup? for feeding and general bunny care check out the library part of the forum. if you have any specific questions you could post in the main part of the forum

sounds like our "Bonny". I'd just drove up into my driveway with another rescue and there was a rabbit on my front lawn. I said, "come here bunny" and she came right over and let me pick her up. She was a very young little Dutch and was one of the sweetest and most possessive rabbit we ever had.

Nachoacts like he's ten foot tall and bulletproof! We are going to take him to a vet in the next couple weeks and get him a check up. I would really like to know if it's a boy or a girl, but I'm a little wary of flipping him over. Is it easy to tell?

He/She did try and hump my knee yesteday, I gently told him "no" and nudged him away. He is doing all the happy bunny things I'm reading about, jumping and doing laps around the room. He met my older cat who is indifferent to Nacho, but Nacho wats to be his buddy I think.

After we get him a clean bill of health we were thinking of getting him a friend from a local rescue here. So far, so good <3

its pretty easy if they are older, because you can see a males doo-dads, but if he is younger and they haven't dropped yet, im not sure. Its best to let the vet check.
And about getting him a buddy, its not so easy bonding bunnies... you should read into a lot before trying to do that. Sometimes it will go good and short, other times it will go bad and take months and months to bond bunnies..sometimes they never bond..

so please read into bonding bunnies before jumping into getting him a friend.

What a cute name and thank you for rescuing him. It is an all too common occurance, people get tired of the rabbit and dump it out in the wilds some where. They think just because its a rabbit it can survive in the wild. Sadly all the end up being is easy prey for a predator. So kudo's for taking in the little guy.

Many bunny's recommend their slaves to this site so we may learn of others methods to keeping our furry masters happy.

If you everhave a sick bunny, please post in The Infirmary and include your rabbit's age, breed and health history as well diet and output details leading up to the problem.
