What about your other rabbits? I'm not trying to be mean -honest....but have you found homes for them? Are you keepingthem? Do you have the time to groom one like Merlin?

I love Amy's rabbit- but I don't have time for the grooming(ok...I have over 40 rabbits) but I don't work outside thehome. I'd had the impression you didn't have much time forthe rabbits you already have...

Just concerned....honest - not trying to be mean...

Merlin is so adorable! I used to have an angora, and let me tell you, you need to groom them every! day. We used togroom ours two to three times a day.

Merlin is a sweetheart, but he requires me tobrush and comb him EVERYDAY, if I dont, he gets severely matted andthen I cant brush or comb him at all. Merlin is a lot of work, WAY morework then any of my bunnies. I really dont suggest an Angora to someone who hasnt had rabbit for a long time, and I also wouldnt suggesthim unless you have a LOT of time to devote to his coat. I also have toshave him every other week, and I dont mean shave him with an electricrazor, I mean trimming his hair with a small pair of shears. It takesatleast 90 minutes to finish his coat every time.

Merlin is a male, and I didnt buy him he was adopted. :)

Once you get more experienced Amy, you should beable to get that shearing time down to about 20 minutes orless. We have done a lot of shearing and got pretty quick atit -- I had doing it though -- I'm very allergic to the angoras :(

Ya I have only done it twice, and the first timeit took 2 hours and the second it only took 90 minutes so it is goingdown :D I am always worried that I am gonna cut his skin or something,oh my gosh that would be horrible!

In that case it's probably best you steer clear of Angoras. They areobviously a lot of work and aren't meant for everyone. I know Icouldn't take care of that coat like Amy does.

I am definitely nottrying to scare any one, I just want you to know what it is like totake care of an Angora :)

Here is Merlin's routine: :)

Wake up and take a run around the house 7:30am

Back in the cage so I can eat breakfast8:30

Back out at 9 for morning combing

Play in bunny pen until 10

Get brushed and any other grooming that it necessary

Back in cage and then let out again at 3

Out until 5

Back in cageat 7

Back out at 8:30 and then bed at 9

Every single day...and that is only one out of my 5 bunnies

You know - I halfway thought an angora would be fun......but that isWAY too much for me to do right now. Even my lionheads aren'tgetting the light grooming they need at themoment (my excuseis that I'm a new grandma (TO RABBITS) and spending time withmy bunny-babies).

Taking care of all that fur is not a job to betaken lightly, the daily groom can take 30min it depends on the bunny'slife style, also they need different care to other buns, you cant useshavings in there cage as it gets stuck in their fur, you also need toclean them out more often because of droppings getting stuck in theirfur, also they need a hay rack, as this too will get stuck in the fur!

YEAH a lot of stuff can get stuck in there fur .would't it be funny if I put a piece of gum in his furr and a lolypop...... J/k
