Some rabbits may go off their feed about 12-24 hours before giving birth, but not all do. Some will eat right up until they start active labour.

It's more of a don't be alarmed if a pregnant does stops eating on her due date (as long as she starts up again shortly after birth).

What I have noticed when watching a birth (only seen one from start to end), is frantic fur pulling and last minute nest building. It was also noticeable when she had contractions because she would stop and her body would tense up. The whole process of active labour and delivery was only about 15-20 minutes.

Well I'm just sharing my two cents.
I dont think anyone is WRONG one way or another. I think it can vary.
I think its great you can handle the kits.
I just know its something to be careful about. I would rather rub my hands all over the mother before touching them to be safe.
And I dont think its a myth, it has happened.

I'm not trying to say whats right and whats wrong. I just think it'd be better safe then sorry, especially with a small thing like rubbing your hands on the mother.
