hi i just wanted to update. the results of the necropsy were inconclusive. but the vet said that he had lost weight, whereas my other rabbit Maggie has gained a full pound. he was already young and thin from the start. so somehow he went to worse and she went to better.

the vet did say he had some small adhesions internally, but not enough to cause death. also the front of his brain looked a little inflamed, but no stroke was evident. everything was very slight. she sent some of his blood work which will hopefully bring a better conclusion.

but all in all, she thinks my Maggie is very strong and healthy and will be okay. it is true. Maggie is brimming with health. i guess looking back, the other bunny was just too thin. i did wonder once how big he was going to grow, because he did seem so small compared to Maggie. and i guess my wondering was right, because he actually lost weight.

i guess the thing is the other bun was very young and possibly from another litter. and maybe suffered from something congenital, but again inconclusive. im so curious about the blood work, but it wont be available for a couple of weeks.

thanks so much for your caring thoughts through this whole ordeal. :bunny19

oh i wanted to also mention heat stroke was ruled out. pretty much everything was, except for the slight adhesion sin his organs and his head being a little inflamed-- which i now wonder if that happened because he was hitting his head...

anyway, i may never know for sure.

i sure hope that Maggie will be alright. im just kind of really cautious, because i couldn't believe how fast the other one got sick.but yes, she does look so strong. actually, she is growing a lot. She's 2 pounds now. she is very plump. so that is good.

anyway, thanks everyone!

Hmm. That's interesting. I wonder if the blood work will show anything? Out of curiosity, how old was the bunny when you got him? I know early weaning and stress at a young age can cause problems, and if that's the case then it happened before you got him.

At least you know your other bun is healthy. That must be a big relief!

I'm so sorry for your loss, I know how you must have felt. My bunny has seizure episodes as well. You feel so helpless when it happens. I hope your other bun is doing well and coping with the loss too.Lots of hugs and kisses.

So sorry to hear about his death....I remember losing several babies from the same breeder to "wry neck". They were all about 6 wks. old, and it happened so fast.:(That's great that the other one is doing so well!
