My Daisy goes into a hunched position on all fours right after eating. She looks uncomfortable, but no obvious signs of pain otherwise. She is pooping normally. Should i have the vet look at her? Not quite sure if there is a problem here or not. She soon takes a more relaxed position.

HI BunMan ,welcome :

I would suggest having her seensoon , there may be the starts of a problem, she might have fur block or stasissetting in , Does she do this after she eatseverytime ?

The only thing I can think of is gas. I'm can't be sure, so I would wait and see what the other members say.

edit: posted at the same time as gypsy. her explanation makes sense too.

She seems more inclined to hunch after eatinggreens, not pellets. Would this be more likely to indicate gas,& if so, what is the remedy?

What type of greens are you feeding? The cruciferous vegy's tend to be more 'gassy' - broccoli, kale, brussels sprouts, etc. How old is yourbunny? Are greens a recent addition to her diet? All these things can be a factor.

I discontinued kale days ago & am nowfeeding escarole, romaine, & a little carrot. I have reducedthe amounts. I believe she got some greens in the shelter but nodetails. She also gets timothy-based pellets & timothy cubes.

Bunman - Simethicone isn'tprescription. I just had to buy some for my bunny and foundit in the grocery store with the other gas medicines. It'sthe kind for infants. What I got was called "Little Tummies"and there's also Mylicon. Simethicone is listed as the activeingredient.

Hope your bunny is okay. I think I would withhold veggiescompletely for a few days at least. Then if there are nosymptoms without the veggies, start introducing them againgradually. If you introduce them only one at a time, then youcan tell which one causes the symptoms.

I'm not saying don't take her to the vet though if you think she needs be seen.

all the ideas are very good, but there might be a reason the veggies are giveing hera gas problem , if that is what it is , istill suggest seeing the vet Tis better to Err onthe side of caution htan have her tummyrupture because of the gas . I just went through ahorrible case of stasis , in a very smallrabbit . I may be overly cautious but I wouldrather be sure .

I would also take away theKale and replace it with Parsley instead. Parsley will tend to ssoth the tummy .

A vet visit definately sounds like a good idea.

I remember that you haven't had her for long- so how long has itbeen? And how old is she? You may be rushing itwith the vegetables as they need to be introduced slowly.Take away all her veggies. If the symptoms don't show, thenthat was the problem. Wait for a week or two and then startintroducing small amounts of veggies, one type at a time. Forexample, feed just a few pieces of parsley for a week, and then add afew pieces of cilantro the next week.
