Hi,
I just joined today. I'm a new rabbit owner but have been reading up extensively because I want to keep my bunnies happy and healthy. I adopted a boy and a girl from separate owners: Boy age 2 is a Rex and I named him Rex. He's curious and friendly. He loves to explore and run around. Girl age 1 is an English Spot. 6 months after her previous owners adopted her and her sister, her sister died by getting stuck in some wire in a home-made wire cage. I bought her (name Chloe) so Rex could have a companion and I hope it helps her heal too. We leave their cages open and let them roam our house.
Does anyone have any advice about litter training? Rex is great about pooping in his cage or a littler box but Chloe poops everywhere. I've been giving her treats when she gets in the litter box or goes in a cage. I've read that when they poop on the floor you should put them in their littler box but Chloe is skiddish and just runs away when I try to pick her up. Do I need to dedicate hours to just watching and following her and rewarding when she goes in the right spot? I'm so tired of the poop all over and I can't bring myself to lock them away in a cage for hours at a time.

Are they both spayed and neutered?

Our guage for being litter trained is not having to clean up pee. The little goobers are left everywhere by most of ours too, which is why there is a shop vac in the closet.

Hello there and welcome to the forum, when they poop outside the litter tray, you don't need to put the rabbit in the tray, but make sure you pick up all poops as quickly as possible and put them in the tray as a reminder of where she should be going. Since they're fairly new, she may be pooping outside of her cage to mark her territory. Also as mentioned, if she's not spayed she is less likely to maintain good litter habits.

Thank you so much for all your input. They both pee inside and outside the litter box but I suspect the boy is spraying. He gets neutered in a week. The girl is already spayed.
Does anyone have suggestions for an affordable pee remover/floor cleaner that takes the smell away?
