Hi there! I joined a Yahoo message group and one of your moderators, TinysMom suggested I join this group. Already I can sense a very helpful, friendly group of people. Before I posted I read some of the posts that have been insightful and am making the decision to stay here rather than continue with the Yahoo group.

My name is Becky, I’m 31 and married to my husband, Hans. We live in Dublin, Ohio and purchased two lionhead rabbits in March. They’re brothers named Moses and General Snarf Lee. I’ll post some photos of them as soon as I upload them at home so you can see my furbabbies.

I saved a baby chinchilla from an underground pet store just over 10 years ago. He was the runt, too young to be away from his mother and was a little rambunctious. For the next 9 years I raised him while his two siblings that my friends had passed away after a couple of years. He took many, many trips to the vet, and probably at least $7,000 later, he lived the last few months of his life happy and healthy. We dealt with eye infections, stomach problems, broken fingers, and worst of all, seizures. We figured out that the little guy had sugar problems so when we finally stabilized him before we let him out to run, he had more fun than seizures. Towards they end he developed a heart murmur and the vet wanted to put him on more meds for it. I declined saying I knew he wouldn’t last much longer, and I didn’t want to shove more medication down his throat. He lived another two months and peacefully laid down, the day I brought my wedding gown home from the store, and passed away.

My little Scooter was worth every minute I spent with him, calming him, medicating him so he was in less pain, and he and I bonded tremendously. Everyone at the vets office was amazed how he acted like a puppy with me more than a chinchilla. I’m just relieved that he had a longer than expected life, and was able to have some happy time!

It took me a year to even THINK about wanting another pet. We went to the pet store and found the lionheads and fell in love with one of them immediately. I didn’t want to make a spur of the moment purchase without researching them like I did chinchillas, so we spent a few days looking over rabbit books and trying to find what info we could online. Finally we went back and purchased two 3-month old brothers, including Moses, the original bunny we saw that we fell in love with immediately. They’ve been so much fun and I’m glad we made the decision to purchase them. They were born in December 07. They’ve been a joy and it’s truly amazing how they each have such strong personalities.

I look forward to participating more on this forum and getting to know you and your bunnies. I think I made the right decision to come here!

Have a great day!!

Becky

:hello& :welcome1to the forum! This is a great site and everyone is very helpful. I have one black Lionhead in my herd, she's a sweetie. I look forward to seeing some pictures of your bunnies.

When I first got into rabbits I too was amazed at the individual personalities each rabbit has. They are not the boring pet some people think they are. I was late in feeding my herd on Saturday and got the dreaded "bunny back" from most of my 15 rabbits.

I am glad your here and I look forward to getting to know you and your bunnies.

:bunnydance::hello

I just want to say "howdy" and "welcome to the forum"!!!

You can still be part of the yahoo group - but I think you're gonna really love this site - all sorts of fun things to read and do.

Oh - and just as a hint - we tend to LOVE pictures and nag for them often....

Good luck with your bonding - I'm not good at that so I'm gonna shut up!

Peg

Thanks, Peg! I posted some photos of our lionhead furbabies in your lionheads photo thread. That was right after we got them. They're both twice as big now, but look exactly the same.

I love our little guys.

Hello, and welcome to RO. I think you'll find everything you could possibly need here... we have a wide variety of helpful members armed with plenty of info.
Bless you for caring for that little Chinchilla for all of his life, I doubt he would have been as comfortable with anyone else but you. I've always wanted a Chinchilla!
And your lionhead boys sound wonderful, I love Moses' name.
You should post some pictures ;)

Thanks, Jess!

Photos have been posted in the other forum within the lionhead thread, but here are my boys anyway. Moses is the brown, General Snarf Lee is the charcoal.
