Hi there! I joined a Yahoo message group and one of your moderators, TinysMom suggested I join this group. Already I can sense a very helpful, friendly group of people. Before I posted I read some of the posts that have been insightful and am making the decision to stay here rather than continue with the Yahoo group.
My name is Becky, Iâm 31 and married to my husband, Hans. We live in Dublin, Ohio and purchased two lionhead rabbits in March. Theyâre brothers named Moses and General Snarf Lee. Iâll post some photos of them as soon as I upload them at home so you can see my furbabbies.
I saved a baby chinchilla from an underground pet store just over 10 years ago. He was the runt, too young to be away from his mother and was a little rambunctious. For the next 9 years I raised him while his two siblings that my friends had passed away after a couple of years. He took many, many trips to the vet, and probably at least $7,000 later, he lived the last few months of his life happy and healthy. We dealt with eye infections, stomach problems, broken fingers, and worst of all, seizures. We figured out that the little guy had sugar problems so when we finally stabilized him before we let him out to run, he had more fun than seizures. Towards they end he developed a heart murmur and the vet wanted to put him on more meds for it. I declined saying I knew he wouldnât last much longer, and I didnât want to shove more medication down his throat. He lived another two months and peacefully laid down, the day I brought my wedding gown home from the store, and passed away.
My little Scooter was worth every minute I spent with him, calming him, medicating him so he was in less pain, and he and I bonded tremendously. Everyone at the vets office was amazed how he acted like a puppy with me more than a chinchilla. Iâm just relieved that he had a longer than expected life, and was able to have some happy time!
It took me a year to even THINK about wanting another pet. We went to the pet store and found the lionheads and fell in love with one of them immediately. I didnât want to make a spur of the moment purchase without researching them like I did chinchillas, so we spent a few days looking over rabbit books and trying to find what info we could online. Finally we went back and purchased two 3-month old brothers, including Moses, the original bunny we saw that we fell in love with immediately. Theyâve been so much fun and Iâm glad we made the decision to purchase them. They were born in December 07. Theyâve been a joy and itâs truly amazing how they each have such strong personalities.
I look forward to participating more on this forum and getting to know you and your bunnies. I think I made the right decision to come here!
Have a great day!!
