Hello everyone. I have had my house rabbit for a while. I just started learning more about rabbits, breeds, ect. From what I've read and seen my rabbit appears to be a flemish giant. She weights right about 10lbs. Is my rabbit a flemish giant?

:D Hey, welcome to RO! :welcome1

Can you put your location in your profile? Breeds and other things vary from area to area.

I'll move this to the Rabbitry, I think the breeders will be able to help you better than me.

What a gorgeous bunny!! My guess would be maybe a Flemish cross, but 10lbs is on the small side I think. But not my area of expertise.

PS: Can I have your sofa? Exactly what I'm looking for! :biggrin2:

Profile Updated. The 10lbs weightMay not be very accurate. I don't have a small scale so i just weight myself with the rabbit and with out a few times and 10lb was about the average. As far as the sofa you will have to talk to my rabbit about that!:)

Looks like a Flemish and maybe a NZL cross. She lacks the length in her body and ears to be a full Flemish, even pet quality. Seems to be a bit lighter framed for a Flemish as well. Nice chin roll though!

Jealous! She has an iPhone and I don't!

She does look like a Flemish! Maybe mixed like Jerry said. But I can't be sure what it would be.

Two things: you don't list the age, but with that dewlap I'm guessing she's getting up toward a year old. At that age, 10lbs would be quite lightweight.

The second thing is, it's well-known that Flemish prefer Blackberries to Apples, so this must be some kind of cross if it uses an iPhone.

You guys!

Yes, NZL is short for New Zeland. Sorry about that.

Also, after looking over the pics, and this is from a rabbit slave that deals with most meat rabbits, I would say its got very little Flemish in it. The weight could be due to fat. The rabbit looks healthy, but pretty heavy for its frame. Once again, it s IMHO on a couple of pictures.

Still, cute rabbit.

Yesterday, I actually went out and got a 6 month pure Flemish buck named Andre. I can definitely notice some huge differences in ear size, bone structure, and over all length. I'd say it weights about 5-7lbs more than my doe. I'm excited to see how large it gets :biggrin2:

True. My girlfriend is the apple supporter. If it was up to me my doe would have a sprint palm pre <----(Blackberry's killer IMO). I Myself prefer my instint multi-media phone :coolness:
