I am new here and just got my first english angora about 1-2 weeks ago. She is about 10-12 weeks? She has her own room. I keep her in an X-lg dog crate when she is resting. She was immediately litter-box trained when I put her in her crate. I followed suggestions of newspaper and hay-it worked! I clean her cage about every day and a half. I was amazed at the amount of poop!I feed her 16 % pellets,( because I can't find 18% )1/3c. in the a.m and 1/3c. p.m., a handful of alfalfa, a small bowl of veggies and a large handful of timothy, and all the fresh water she can drink. If I forget her pellets, she throws her bowl at the sides of the crate. I have her water in a bowl because all the water bottles I tried, leaked. She is a pointed lilac. She seems to be in good health except for an initial case of ???? watery eyes and nasal discharge, very slight ,which seem to have disappeared. She also had mites? which I treated her for.She got her first partial shearing today, and will finish tomorrow. I am trying to bond with her-she is slowly warming up to me.:big wink:All in all it is a lot of work, but I love my new bunny. No name yet-She arrived the day of the ROYAL WEDDING so I am leaning towards Kate, or is it William???????:?

Hi and welcome! That last sentence made me crack up.

It sounds like you're taking great care of your bunny and are thoroughly obsessed! Be careful, bunnies are addictive and it sounds like you already caught the bug!

Let me welcome you to Rabbits Online, my name is Dave and I am a moderator on the forum. So if I can be of any help please let me know. This is a terrific website for rabbits and their slaves, not only is it very active but also friendly. I am so glad you’re here and I know you will enjoy it.

Many bunny's recommend their slaves to this site so we may learn of others methods to keeping our furry masters happy.

If you everhave a sick bunny, please post in The Infirmary and include your rabbit's age, breed and health history as well diet and output details leading up to the problem.

I have listed some links I thought you might find interesting:

*For reference the Library section

*To brag or tell everyone about the antics of your bunny or just to talk about your day here is where to start a Bunny Blog, you can also look back at it later and remember when you had a life before your bunny.

*Now all the bunny’s like talk to each other when we mere slaves aren’t around in the Bunny Chat is the spot to be.

*Rabbits Online also has regional forums , this a good way to find a vet in your area that has experience with rabbits and to find out from other nearby of good sources of rabbit supplies.

The Let Your Hare Down section is for anything non-bunny related.

Here is a link tothat will help you and your bunny to connect, How To Bond With Your Bunny.

Now every forum has rules and ours can be found with this link Rabbits Online Forum Rules. This gives guidelines on what is acceptable, what is not and how we hope everyone will treat each other.

Everyone on this forum loves to see pictures of each other’s bunnies. So if you would like to post a picture this link will help you do that, Upload Photo's to Photo Gallery. Then in the post, you click on the "G" in the tool bar to insert your photo. Many people also use Photobucket. You just copy the img file and paste it into the post.

I am glad you have joined rabbits online and I look forward to seeing you around.

I don't know how to do the pictures, I'll get my daughter to do it next time she is over. But I just call the rabbit-Bunny Bunny. Maybe when I post the pics y'all can give me some name suggestions. Due to a possible mite infestation, he/she is not looking fabulous as she did when I got her. I cut her hair to make sure to get to the mites. It seems like I am always taking 1 step forward and 2 back, as I make her mad just as she starts to warm up to me. I have to brush her every few days, and she does not like to be touched. This seems to be contrary to what I have read about them. I was wondering how to trim or brush out the chin area as it seems to be particularly sensitive. I noticed a few knots under there.Any suggestions?

welcome from Salmon Arm, BC We had a french angora when we lived in Kelowna about 15 years ago. I had bragged to my dad about how extremely cute and adorable he was. Then we discovered he had mites and I bathed him and the shampoo didn't have enough conditioner in it and he matted. Had to have the vet shave him except for a small mohawk ridge down his back. He was the most pitiful looking little critter for several week until it grew out, we even put a little jacket on him. My dad just about peed himself laughing when he got an eyeful of this "incredibly cute" rabbit. My sympathy but he will look better in time.
