This is a short note to introduce myself to you all. My name is Patti, and my rabbit (see pic in my avatar) is a multi-color mini-rex named Glendi. Glendi came to me already pregnant, and last week had three little babies ... 2 blue and 1 black. They are, as yet, un-named. They joined a household consisting of myself, Glendi their mother, 2 guinea pigs, 5 cats, 5 dogs, 9 rats, an african grey parrot and a very patient husband!:biggrin2:

I am completely smitten with little Glendi, who is proving to be a delightful house pet and a wonderful mother. I'm here to learn more about how to take care of her, and her family, best; and also to admire all the lovely rabbits that everyone here posts about. I've been enjoying 'lurking' for the past few days prior to posting this note.

So, thank you all for welcoming me! I know I'll enjoy being here! :)

blessings,

patti

Welcome! You MUST have a very patient husband. Sounds like a great family and I am looking forward to seeing and hearing more.

Welcome! Do try to take photos of the babies! and all the other critters you seem to have!

Do you know if Glendi's mate was a mini-rex? She's so cute! I am very fond of the mini-rex since my first bunny was one - he's in my avatar and named Bo. He's spoiled rotten! and makes me laugh daily!

Hi

Thank you everyone for the welcome!:) Yes, Glendi was mated with another mini-rex named Oliver. I'm told that Oliver was a deep steel blue with a very plush coat. We've pretty much decided to keep the babies ... I just don't want to spend time or energy worrying about what sort of life they might be having if I decided to sell them. So, once they are weaned, Glendi will be spayed and as they get to an appropriate age, they'll each be spay/neutered, and they'll have a home here with us.

The story is that Glendi came to me as a sole survivor of a dog attack at a breeder's back yard. I don't know how many rabbits were killed (Glendi's mate Oliver was among them) but the experience was discouraging enough to the breeder for him to decide to "get out of rabbits" .... and Glendi was turned over first to another breeder (who then decided she didn't want to work with mini-rex's, and then to me.

I'm an animal control officer, and Glendi is actually the second rabbit I've obtained as a result of my job. My first, Oprah, was a black mini-lop that had been starved nearly to death in a home where the children had broken the neck of the other resident rabbit "just to see what would happen" ..... Oprah came to me a virtual skeleton, and a year later, when she was of normal weight and we thought fully recovered, she died due to complications from her spay.

So now we have Glendi :D.... and in about 3 days, we'll have babies with eyes open and beginning to explore their ex-pen. It's really fun having them here.

YAY! Great people you are!

I can't wait to see these babies! Glendi is adorable and it's so sad about the attack! Thank God she made it through and I'm glad you are going to keep the little ones!

Welcome so sorry about Oprah. In your job you see first hand the cruelities of people and i dont envy you, i would be physically hurting people if i was in that job, lol, and i am not kidding. I know you have to have a control over your emotions in order to be able to get the eveidence to be able to prosecute but i would be jotting down addresses, lol :tantrum::eek:hnoyoudidnt:
