Hey everyone. Tried another site a couple of days ago but seems very inactive. Lots of great articles on here enjoying reading them.

We have just had our first litter froma rescue doe who gave birth 3 days after we got her!!! She had 8 kits one out of the nest which was huge compared to the 7 healthy ones she has gone on to have all happy and feeding well. She is a rex x and very good mummy.

Question is been reading loads and dont think my brain will take anymore lol- but still cannot get a stright answer on when it is an acceptable time to seperate the babies form mum? some say 4.5 wks some 8 we have a good set up and it's getting better-nearly finished as long as the weather holds up today! and want them to be as comfy as possible all advice and help welcomed. Can't wait to get some photos of our tribe uploaded they are all so beautiful thanks ljand the clan xxx

Welcome to the forum!and congratulations on the litter. I can relate, I bought a black flemish doe at a rabbit show and a couple of weeks later walked into the bunny room to discover I had five more rabbits!:)

In regards to your question, 40 days is the absolute earliest you could separate them from the mom, 56 days is more ideal. The longer they can nurse the stronger their bone structure and immune system will be, they will also be healthier. For a mini-rex you could probably split the difference and separated them around 50 days.

Look forward to seeing pictures and hearing more about your life as a bunny slave.

Hi and welcome to the forum! :)

Congratulations! We would love to see pics of the little ones!

Hey,

How are your kits doing? Generally 8 weeks is the accepted time, but some breeders will separate at 6 under the right circumstances.

Hope all are doing well

Tracy
