Just curious as to whether rabbits get hay fever,I took Jess outside yesterday and I started sneezing as I get quiet bad hay fever then I noticed Jess was sneezing too

Hmm, I'm not sure - but I know some bunnies have allergies to other things, so not too far fetched to imagine they would get hay fever. I know my bun Misty is allergic to carpet and sneezes a lot if she's around dust.

Of course, I tried to do a google search for you and all I find with"Rabbit and Allergies" are posts for people allergic to rabbits.. hmm..

I have never seen this but I guess it's possible. I looked on the net and couldn't find much either - although I did find out that people can be allergic to rabbit urine!!

Maybe your rabbit was sneezing with sympathy for you!

Bunny sneezes a lot also! I was just wondering this last night. She seems to sneeze a lot more when we let her out for play time. So, maybe she is allergic to our carpet also. I watch her closely to make sure her eyes and nose aren't running, so far they're not...that would certainly send me into a panic! LOL!

I don't see why rabbits can't have hay fever.Sandy sneezes quite often. If anybody does find out if they can or not,i would like to know for any future reference. :)

One thing I will say is that I've heard mention of buns having runny noses during certain times of the year.

For instance, Peg's got my Drew right now, and he's had a few instances of a runny nose (just a bit of moisture...not anything serious), and she said that a few of her buns get it this time of year.

So I think there might be some validity to some buns having allergies of some type this time of year.

:)

I agree with you Rosie, my girls sneeze sometimes when its warm outside and there is pollen in the air, they always have around the summer timeand it has never caused them any health problems. I've always thought it must just be allergies, after all if we get hay fever why shouldn't bunnies?:)

I know my bunnies tend to get not runny, but wet noses when the weather is really cold.
