Hay Wrapped Around Foot

Princess has somehow managed to get haytightly wound around her foot :rollseyesThere was a big trail of it after her but I cut it off so that it's just the bit that is wound around her foot, to get it off I'd need to get the scissors quite close to her foot and if she struggles she could get a nasty cut. I'm afraid to risk it and plus she is growling at me when I touch it.

Other then that she has not been showing any signs of distress or pain and came running up fora treat, will she get the hay off herself, if not what the heck will I do? Thanks!

You need several people to help you ...

you could hold her and who ever has a steady hand could cut if off

else take her to the vet

don't risk trying to to do this yourself

Poor princess, I'm not sure what to suggest, though I reckon taking her to the vet will be the best bet, as it is wrapped round tightly they will probably know what to do, how to hold her in the safest way and have the right eqipment to get the hay off.

Ok I'm gonna get dad to help me when he comes home from work, I'll hold her and let him cut it.

There is a way to cut with the scissors pointing away from the rabbit; he will know how to do it

I went out to bring her in when dad came home but she must have gotten the hay off herself, phew!

Its great she sorted it herself. My old man Tubby once got hay caught round both his back feet. It tied them together and cut off the circulation. He coulnd't walk for a while until the blood flowed again properly, so you're definitely right that it needed to be cut off. Good old Princess also knew that.

Ya I'm delighted she got it off herself, it was pretty tight like I was wondering how I was going to get the scissors behind it. When I come into the shed she starts to spin around must have got her foot caught up then.
