I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on making a good hayfeeder/holder? As soon as I turn my back my rabbit seems to startplaying it the hay and it falls outside the cage. I haven't truely seenthis happen, but just see the results.

I recently started weaving rings out of the grass stems, but this is time consuming.

Thanks I'm not really looking to buy anything, but I have tons of stuff around the house and can make just about anything.

several pet shops, or rabbitry suppliers havethem, or you can make your own out of a piece of chicken wire bent andattached to the cage wire on the bottom and sides.

Hi and welcome to the forum!

Hmmm, I actually made one out of an empty diaper wipe box. It wasreally easy, first I cuta little dip into theboxfrom the top so my buns could get at the hay and then I putholes in the back and used zip-strips to secure it to the cage. Thatworked pretty well for me.

You can also use empty cardboard boxes although in time your bun would probably chew it apart.

Let us know what you come up with I am always looking for cheap additions for my buns!

Two triangular pieces of wood for the ends of therack, piece of wire fence, fold wire fence into a "V", tack wooden endsin the appropriate position and hang completed rack on to cage.

Two triangular pieces of wood for the ends of the rack, one rectangularpiece of wood for the back, nail two ends on to the back, bridge thetwo ends with wire fence and you have a rack that will retain hay onthree sides.

hello and welcome!

i made mine out of wire coat hangers and 2 lengths of dowel it workswell but you might want something a little bit more simple to make hopethis helps Em x

I've been trying tofind just the right one for ages and finally found something that makesme soooo happy just the other day!

In all seriousness, I've gone to the Petplaces, I've been to Tractor Supply several times and last week evenwent through their bass catalog. I can't find what I want. This gardenbasket is designed to hold a coconut husk lining and then be used toplant flowers in. It works perfect to hang on the back of Sebastian'scage! :)

Now, while I'm sure Buck will roll aroundon the floor laughing at me, please keep in mind that MY bunny hasdelicate sensitivities about his decor and he seems to like it verymuch!

I love it Raspberry! What a great idea, not tomention it's more decorative. It looks like he'd be unable to rip itoff the cage too. Abby looooves tossing their hayrack all overcreation.

I saw that too. It's looks really cool, but just not sure how well it works. At allowing the rabbit to get to the hay.

I wonder how it works. I see they have them for sale on bunnyrabbit.com.

I have one of those, but I don't use it anymore. It workedpretty well at keeping the hay in, but Wrigley didn't like having topull it out while it was spinning. When I first gotitforhim he had no problem with it...after a whilehe just kinda gave up on it and wasn't eating as much hay as he usedto. So, needless to say I'm using the old one again;)

Au contraire! Cleverapplication of the precept,"thinking outside the box." Probably less expensive than a"bunny" fixture, too!

This is what my buns use. They don't seem to have any troublewith it. They empty it at least once a day. Withthis, Sage is the only bunny who gets hay on the floor of thecage. Basil tends to pull it off the side of the cage, butthey seem to have fun spinning it. They stand on their hindlegs and spin it with their front. It's really funny.
