My poor baby...last night she jumpedoff the bed in her bedroom (as she's done a million times) and thenhopped into her cage. I didn't notice until a minute later when myhusband said "I think she's limping"...poor thing wasn't usuing herleft rear leg at all! I instantly called her vet, which is an hr away(but she specializes in rabbits) and rushed there since they stayedopen just to accomodate me. They sedated my poor baby and took x-rays. It seems sheknocked her knee really hard somehow and the kneecap got knocked out ofplace, pulling and stretching the ligament. So now that the ligament isstretched out, her knee cap is moving around freely. The vet put herknee cap back in place, and Trix is now confined to her small startercage for TWO WEEKS! I also have togive heranti-inflammatories (mixed in with some banana) for the next 5 days.
Poor thing, the vet said it's very painful and should take a coupleweeks to heal. Good thing she is young, because if she was older, itwould take up to a month!
She also said that anything could have caused it. She could have just been running and slipped and fell sideways, whatever.
We are making some steps for her to get on and off the bed from now on.....since she goes on it no matter what.
