I have been hand raising a rejected baby bunny for the past week now, and am starting to consider what to do to get him/her ready for solid food.

I can collect cecotropes from my rabbits, although it would be pretty difficult, since they live outside in a wire bottomed cage colony situation. (They do have rest boards)

What I was wondering if it is possible to substitute guinea pig cecotropes instead? That would be much easier to collect at least, since the cage has a solid bottom.

Or should I try substituting bene-bac? If I go that route, I won't be able to offer it to him/her for a while, since I'd have to order it and the company says to start them on it between the ages of 1-10 days old.

I would say absolutely not. Guinea pigs can be carriers of disease that can spread to rabbits from being in contact. If they were to eat the cecals, that would be even more direct. Too risky.

What about the bene-bac?
