So it's been confirmed that I will in fact, be getting my friends bunny when she moves. She has two children(two years and two months), two dogs(two years and seven months), and three cats all to move on a drive of TWELVE hours. They're likely doing it in two trips and are even asking me to watch their puppy so that her husband can come back and get her on the second trip.
Anyway... They've decided it would be way too much to take Fluffy(the two year old named her, and she's a Lionhead), so they asked me to take her and fiance and I talked about it and it's a go.
Even if the bunnies don't bond, I'm okay with that and will still keep them and just cage them separately. I have a spare room, a living room, and my bedroom, all places they can be kept separate if need be. But I also have neutral areas to introduce them in.
What are signs that they're bonding or getting along? What are signs that they AREN'T? Here's the only problem with caging side-by-side. Fluffy's cage is plastic all around with a wire top(if they bond, they'll both end up in a large NIC cage together), whereas Crush's cage is all wire... How could they bond through Fluffy's cage? Should I do the cage swapping? One week, they're in the others cage, then swap them back for a week, etc? If I place them in a neutral room together, what are signs I should watch out for that I need to separate them?
I already have several things going for me. Both are fixed, the older is male and the younger is female(Crush is three years and Fluffy is seven months), and they're both very docile, calm bunnies. The female would also be coming into the my home, which is also the males home, so I have that going for me too.
Any suggestions would be great!
I've also given her a look over. She was an rescue adoption, so she came already fixed, vetted, vaccinated, etc and I checked her teeth and nails and they're perfect. Crush has tooth problems, so at least I'll only have one bun with that issue.
I also need to litter-train Fluffy, so I already went over and helped set her up for that. I think her issue with it is her hay rack is above her food dishes(which is what she pees in) and she has one of those super tiny corner boxes, so I'll likely get her a small cat box instead like I did for Crush and swap her cage around to help with that.
Btw... How do you groom a Lionhead? :biggrin2:
