Hi there. My moms friend called me earlier tolet me know that she found a domestic female rabbit outside of theirhouse. They are keeping her for the night and plan on calling theHumane Society in the morning, and are going to try and find her owner. She's a really sweet rabbit, very friendly...And fat.
I just got a call from the woman. She thinks I'm some sort of expertbecause I worked at a vets office for a few years, but we didn't handlerabbits, so I don't know anything about them. Anyways, she says thatthe rabbit is spot bleeding right now. She was worried that she mightbe in labor.
I'm posting just to confirm that she probably isn't. The rabbit isn'tnesting at all, it's just spot bleeding, and they can't feel anythingin her tummy. I'd assume that if the rabbit was in fact about to givebirth that the babies would be big enough to feel? I could be completlywrong...But to me it doesn't sound too much like an animal about togive birth. I told her to watch her, and in the morning, if therearen't any babies... take her to the vet, because if she isn'tpregnant, and is bleeding...Then she needs to see a vet anyways.
Is there anything else I should tell this woman about care for herovernight, or does that sound at all like the rabbit is about to givebirth?
