I remember being traumatized as a kid by someone's little dog got knocked up by a larger dog. The poor thing died because the puppies weren't aborted & were too big.
This was back in the Stone Age when people [or at least these people] didn't know better, or how much bigger the male was until it was too late.

Back to rabbits: I can't see any problem with a larger doe having kits with a smaller buck, as long as the size difference isn't so big that they can't "do it,"
The post right above yours talks of a corgi and a rot, unfortunately it doesn't just happen in the stone age :(

When I worked in a vet clinic I once saw a great dane/corgi mix! That was one strange looking dog. At least in this case the mom was the great dane at least, otherwise I don't think she would have lived.

I think the parts are basically compatable at any size, it's just the uterus and pelvis that end up too small for the babies. In a tiny doe you can't make her pelvis any larger even if the kits are too big to fit through.

Exactly, Brandy. The births would have to be by Caesarian to avoid damaging the doe.

As to the parts being compatible, I was thinking more in terms of leg length & positioning.

I suppose every vet is different, but are C-sections called for very often with rabbits?
