Sorry everyone for getting mad but you have to understand first of all I am only 12 and second I get angry quite easily ask mum - just don't listen to me LOL
So I apologise.

Dippy and Fluffball are not siblings by the way!

and if they are siblings, ive heard of some pretty bad genetic disorders.

A friend of my mums wants to borrow Dippy to breed with her doe but it is up to me.
I am quite happy for her to borrow Dippy but I said to mum only if we get to keep one of the babies - so instead of breeding Fluffball and making Dippy have 2 litters, he will have one and I will still be able to give a bunny a home.

BRB I just need to go and give dippy and fluffball a fan - very hot outisde.

Okay - how would I join those rabbit communtiy things that StarLight rabbitry mentioned??
I know there is no money in breeding so I have decided in the future when I move out I am going to get all my rabbits from a rescue center and take in any that no one wants (making sure I have enough money obviously)

Becca, I think you are making a very intelligent choice. The easiest way to meet other rabbit people is to attend a rabbit show. That way, you can meet breeders and Companion rabbit people. You can also see if there are any local rabbit clubs. We have specific breed clubs (like just for Lionheads or Nethies). And we have "All Breed" clubs... anyone with a rabbit can join! And of course, you're already a member of a GREAT rabbit Community... RabbitsOnline. We understand how difficult it is to make certain decisions. But I think you are doing the right thing for your girl. I know how devastated you'd be if anything happened to her. (I'm greatly relieved that she isn't pregnant. I was worried since she is so young.)

Your local rescue center might know of rabbit clubs or groups. You could start there. Your local vet might know also. (Start saving your money up to spay Fluffball.)

I understand why the thought of pairing rabbits would be so appealing. Afterall I love caring for animals and I had some of the same feelings when I first started looking into rabbit raising. However, only after a lot of research did I join ARBA (American Rabbit Breeders Association) and start attending shows. I feel the need to point out to you that breeding rabbits isn't something to take lightly.

First of all if your rabbits don't come with pedigrees you have no idea what genetic stock they come from. You don't have any clues as to what traits they carry or what can turn up in your litters. Your rabbits could even be related. Rabbits without pedigrees may as well be crossbreeds because you have no proof of their breeding. This is something the possible offspring already have going against them.

If you'd like to raise baby bunnies, adopt or buy some more. I don't think they are in short supply. However helping your friend breed her rabbit sounds risky. Yes, you can garauntee a home for one, but what will happen to the rest of the litter? Can your friend house 6-12 more rabbits, seperate the males and females and the ones that will fight?

If you'd like to get into rabbit breeding, do some research and find a mentor, despite all the work, the money and the time invested I find it quite fulfilling. I would never call it profitable or easy though--at least for me.

PS- I'd stay away from the breeder you mentioned earlier. Ears are not load bareing structures....owch!

That is quite interesting that a breeder would pick up a rabbit by its ears! You would think they know not too. Sounds like they don't know as much as they think.

Well I hope everything goes well with Fluff. Good decision on thinking carefully before you breed her!!
