I was going to make a lame chicken crossing the road joke but couldn't think of one and now it just sounds stupid haha.

Well, I may have jinxed myself.. I went out to give them treats this morning in their new home and got thumped at..  The little guy seems a bit stressed now for some reason.  Why it would happen now instead of after sitting all day paired in a 10"x10" cage, then shoved into a vodka cardboard box, then an hour ride back home, is beyond me.  So maybe just a BP calmed by PTS..

My chicken crosses the road a lot!  Then again, they just redug the ditch on the other side so there's a lot of dirt (read mud) to play  in.  So next time someone says that to you, calmly and without blinking tell them "well, the grass across the road must have just been cut.. which would draw any chicken to cross a road..." then in a very frightened and low voice lean in close and say "the bugs mostly come out after a cut... mostly..."  :biggrin2:

They could have been having an off day. Harvey thumps me some times when he doesn't want to be put away before I go to work.... makes me late :rollseyes. Ooooh he also thumps me when I clean up his enclosure.

They scoffed at raisins yesterday.. I'm still learning Rabbitnese but my translation came to something along the lines of "Seriously? I lay a thousand of [those] a day and you try to feed one back to me!?"

"Those" being in brackets because rabbits don't have the equivalent word for poop in their language seeing as how they're the one animal that doesn't even seem aware that they're going. Horses lift their tails, chickens move their feathers out of the way... Rabbits take off running and leave a trail Hansel and Gretel would be envious of! Anywhooooo....

Easy way.. when I figure it out, I'll share! :biggrin:

We'll see how it goes. I found an identifying mark today so I'll be resexing them when I put them in their yard tractor, but I think it's the girl who's thumpy and the boy who's Chewy. They're sprawling out now so they're getting more comfortable and settling in. The chewer will let me pet him but the thumper is still shy. I'll hold her for a little while when I'm moving them this afternoon and try to get her used to me more.

I was going to do the opposite and give them space and time to settle in on their own but after thinking about it I think that could just reinforce the behavior. I think the best course would be to make it understood that she's going to be handled whether she likes it or not, but she will be well compensated for the aggravation.. lol We'll have to see later on.. I don't want to mess with them when it's midday and hot.

Well if they are handled often and are used to people they can be good pets. Only our does have ever given us problems but when we sent one to a friend for alternative purposes because she had bit my mother the lady ended up keeping her and says she is the sweetest thing ever. Maybe it was just us lol. All of our boys have been sweet hearts tho. I know what you mean about The slim shape. My rocky is fine boned but has a body to him now that he is older and some does are usually larger framed than the males. But when they pose is when they show off those skinny bodies

I think it's a doe that's ornery with me too. Maybe it'll get better when I get the second hutch built and them separated, then again I expect a fit to be pitched seeing as they've been together this long, so it's a 50/50 proposition now.

Hey, how do your BPs do with the Texas heat? I gave them a frozen water bottle to lay on today and they seem more intent on finding out why they can't get a solid bite on it anywhere than using it to cool down.. lol
