Yup, I spoke to Becca's lovely mum about an hour ago. I did not tell her what to do, or anything, I just gave her all the facts that she needed to know about breeding, and that means she can help her family make the right decision based on all the necessary info, and it sounds like she took it on board (which I could tell at the time).

I hope you get a good outcome Becca :) If you mum wants me to write down any of the info I gave her (because I did give a lot) let me know and I can do that and e-mail it to you to pass on to her :)

Thanks Tracy, I didn't even want to breed Fluffball again anyway becuase I knew she was too old especially after her having that pencil kit.

I wanted to get a new doe, thats why I asked those questiuns becuase mum was asking and I wasn't sure.

Tracy do you mind writing out that information anyway for me? I wouldn't mind having a look to learn a bit. :)

I sure can write it out. I wrote out notes so I remembered everything while talking to your mum, but would you like me to detail the notes to get in everything I said? I'm happy to do that if you want me to :)

I've PMed you, but really, I think you've been told it all before, but it might be a good reference point for you :)

Becca, I was just thinking about you this morning. Your mum said that there is a breeder in your villagen (where you got Dippy and Fluffball from), why don't you see if you can work with him and learn from him and have him mentor you? That would probably be far more successful than anything we can do over the web and you would learn tons more too.

It sounds like the perfect advice. I am sure a breeder will welcome your interest and enthusiasm to learn

Autumn, thats what I was thinking, I'll have to look at other rescue sites becuase the ones i've looked at so far either the does are too old or there aren't any!

Rescue does are usually spayed anyhow, so you wouldn't be able to breed a doe from there ;)

If you doget a doe, why not geta pair of purebreds? That way, you can enhance the breed.

Just because you breed two purebred rabbits does not mean you get good typed babies.

You are still enhancing the breed the best way you can.

Plus if you breed two amazing rabbits (like champions, who have won a lot) than you have a good chance bunnybunbun.

Your best is not always the best. A rabbit can be a champion and have faults. A rabbits that wins under one judge may not under the next. One judge may favor good shoulders over good width. If you breed two champion winning rabbits of same breed but two diffrent colors that do not combine well and/or with the same faults you are creating babies of poorer quality than the parents. In many litters the majority of the litter is only breeding or pet quality so you have many babies that are not up to snuff. I know breeders that send any rabbits not ship shape straight to the slaughter house (a real one, supposibly), apparently they can not be "bothered" with taking the time to find them homes.
