Well im hoping to bring Phinn to the Chicago Anti-Cruelty Shelter to pick out a friend. Since it isn't a rabbit shelter (but they do have rabbits), im guessing the bunnies aren't spayed/neutered.

The shelter is 50 min away from me, so not too bad. I'm going on vacation for a week on July 21, so a new bunny would have to be after that. If Phinn met the bunnies before they were spayed, would his opinion on them change after they've been spayed? And the does opinion on him?

What I want to do is bring Phinn to the shelter before the vacation, let him pick out a friend, pay for the spay, and then when we are on vacation have her spayed, so by the time we come home, she'll be spayed and ready to bond to Phinn.

LOL thanks guys...:)

If Phinn likes the bunny, a spay shouldn't change that. Usually a spay just makes them less nippy with each other because it reduces the hormones.

Best of luck! I hope he finds somebun he really likes!

I have no idea either BUT

YAY!!!! EXCITED!!!

It's so true about bunnies. You can't have just one. It's UNPOSSIBLE! :p

Hehe thanks guys! I emailed the shelter, so hopefully ill hear back. If not ill call them :)

I think we may just do a date after our vacation, because the vet I would want to use is far from the shelter, so it would make everything really complicated.

So ill update after our vaca! :D

Firstly, make sure you ask the shelter if you can bring him in. Many won't allow it. A shelter is a busy busy place and there are alot of diseases there they don't want to expose oter animals to. I know my shelter only let me do it because they knew me and because it was a rabbit. They would never allow it with a cat or a dog.

Second, don't assume they're not speutered, ask. My shelter is a city shelter with dogs, cats, rabbits, birds, turtles, guinea pigs, etc. They only fix the dogs, cats and rabbits. The rabbits they fix ahead of time so they can house multiple together. This shelter may do the same.

I know Chicago ACS doesnt spay/neuter a rabbit until they know its going to be adopted. I assume this is because they put so many down.

I would call first and see if they would allow you to bring Phinn in. If you guys find somebun you like, they have a vet who does the surgery (which I would assume would be included in the adoption price).

I hope you guys are able to find somebunny!

If you do have trouble with them, try looking on petfinder classifieds. A lot of times you can find buns who need homes without going through a shelter.

They emailed me and said they do have rabbits, so I emailed back and asked if I would be allowed to bring Phinn in, so i'm waiting for a reply.

It wouldn't be until after July 28th though. I stil can't wait :)
