Some time ago - about three or four months, now - I happened upon a certain bunny who has become a very good friend. She was rescued from a small slaughterhouse in downtown Hempstead. She came dangerously close to being someone's dinner that day. Luckily, her angel came to rescue her.
Hyzenthlay - Hizzie for short - has been with me ever since. She managed to littertrain herself in no more than 48 hours, and despite being treated awfully and fed nothing but cracked corn, she took to alfafa pellets, hay, and the occasional green treat like a fish takes to water. Long Island Rabbit Rescue was AMAZINGLY helpful, giving us both a cage, a carrier, a large supply of hay and food, and two vet visits. She can be rather skittish, still. Loud noises or noises she doesn't recognize startle her, and she runs bolting for the nearest safespot. She also HATES being picked up. However, when I lie down on the floor, she comes and will nose me for cheek rubs or just lounge next to me. When I skip around her, she binkies. She's never chewed a cord (well...one, but in her defense, it had grape jelly on it). When a friend spent a few days here with her own bunny, Hizzie was skeptical at first...and then, before I knew it, they were best buddies. I think that in knowledgeable bunnyhome, Hizzie will make one of the best pets anyone could ever have. She's about 8 months old and weighs around 7 pounds. I know that these pictures are extremely fuzzy, but they're the best I have for now.
Hizzie will come with her cage, her litterboxes, her waterbottle, her carrier, and whatever food and hay I have left. I was recently laid off, and no longer really have the money to keep her. Please, if there is anyone in the tri-state area interested in Hizzie, let me know right away! Thanks, guys!
