Yeah, I think it's best to do what the owner says. Big changes aren't your choice to make. When I pet-sat a very obese bunny that was free-fed pellets, I had to keep doing that because it was what he was used to. I think I decided to only fill his bowl halfway each day. I sent him home with a lot of info on proper diets, though!

Thanks guys

After talking to the owner I decided to bring over some carrot tops, parsley, zuchini and a few beet leaves from my garden. I also bought a bag of mixed spring greens. So far so good.I"ve been giving a small handful of greens, a slice of zuchini, a couple peas or 1 carrot, a few stems of parsley, 1 beet leaf and a couple carrot tops. The bunny is eating them and seems to be doing good(good poops).

Tomorrow is my last day looking after him and all the other animals. Hopefully I"ll get to talk to the lady on thursday and I'll try to tackle the food subject again.

Sounds good! I've never heard of a bunny liking zucchini, but I think it's safe so if he likes it that's good!

Well he ate it the first day, didn't eat it the second day, but started eating it when I gave it again today. So who knows if actually he likes it or not.I guess I"ll find out tomorrow if he actually ate it again. I just was trying anything "bunny safe" that I had in the garden.

Everyone says rabbits love parsley and I have a huge patch of it in my garden but my own bunny won't eat it. So much for my idea of growing a nice little treat for him :( Weird little guy. Atleast he loves carrot tops and we have TONS of those :)

Wow this pet sitting job is going awesome. Today is my last day and I went over there and found 2 notes on the door. One from an angry neighbour and the other from animal control. She has 2 big outside dogs and I guess they have been barking a lot and during the night. They have bark collars and each day I've been checking to make sure they are placed correctly on their neck but I guess they aren't working. Thankfully the owners are coming home tonight so I dont' have to deal with the complaints.

Why do people keep outside dogs in the city? They are probably bored out of their minds being by themselves all day in a small yard. No wonder they bark. She even keeps them outside when its like -30* outside.

One of the downsides of pet sitting is you have to deal with owners that dont' always have the same pet care values as you do. Grrrrr

Plus its my birthday today. Happy birthday, heres you animal control notice! Awesome, lol.

Happy Birthday!!!!

You deserve all the money you are getting for this pet sitting job. lol I agree with you about the dogs. I always feel bad to see dogs that are outside 24-7 tied up. I would bark too!!!

OK just a little update :)

I'm petsitting for this same lady again and she finally listened to me!!! She has started feeding oxbow timothy pellets along with the veggies!!! She also has a few varieties of oxbow hay(oat, botanical, timothy).

Just thought i'd share the good news :) Persistence pays off

Great news!
I've found that often people are simply misinformed. They think they're doing the right thing and are happy to change upon learning the right way to do things.

Hi Everyone I just fed my poor rabbits some fresh green beans and then saw that was a no no:shock:They are mini rexes and they each had 3 beans each....will they be ok? or should I give them something.:tears2:

That's not a ton, and they should be ok. Just keep an eye on them. I used to feed them to my guys pretty regularly (1/2 to 1c a ta time) before I knew they were bad. :(
