Does anyone else fake tan? I had to go today to sign up for a month of unlimited tanning, so I don't stick out like a shiny pearl on the lakeside when I get married in May.

$50 to tan for one month....I almost died. Ugh....how long does the tan last after you stop tanning? I'll probably stop tanning a few days before the wedding. I hope to have a nice tan by May 2nd (the wedding).

I tanned for 7 minutes today and feel good, I probably could have went longer...I tan sooo well. I think I might take a shower to clean off this burnt cupcake smell on my body from the tanning lotion, then rub some aloe vera lotion on my body, just to help my skin. I should probably take it out of the fridge first...no body likes a cold rub down :nerves1.

I used to work in a tanning center. What sort of bulbs are they using? are they UVB? and what sort of beds? Do they have face tanners?

Be careful cause if you burn - it's a bad burn... like not from the sun but from an oven. I fell asleep in a bed one time..... nakie.... ouch!

I have burned in a bed before...no fun! I went tanning back in NY at a huuuuge tanning place with like 40 beds, it was called "Total Tan".

At least these beds are on timers. I have 4 minutes from the time I close the door to the room to undress, rub down in some tanning lotion, and hop in the bed. The bed then starts and automatically turns off in the minute the lady set it to turn off at.

I used to ... I used to be the pretty much only white person in my class, and I got bullied alot so my mom finnally gave in and let me go. I actually went today. I went with my mom, and wasn't even planning on going but I got bored and the guy gave me *free* 15 minutes.

Looks like a great place! I'd love to get a nice even tan right now..... I'll have a farmer's tan or at least shorts legs before long...... STanding outside in the sun with the dirt/gravel/sand reflecting it onto my legs. they get dark except for where my shorts lay..... :X

I'm always tan. lol I have no desire to be darker. I like my skin very much and try to stay out of the sun as much as possible.

Here I am with my skin. :p

Eeek no, I know so many people with skin cancer, puts me off any sort of tanning. My mum used to use tanning beds a lot and has a lot of melanomas.

i dont like tanning.... i get frekles in the sun, thats about it.
i dont like them because the tanning might give you skin cancer.
if any one has moles, cover them up in the tan bed or in the sun.

I used to tan all the time when I was younger. Now that I'm more "mature" I stay out of the sun as much as possible. I don't want to look like those ladies whose skin rivals that of an alligator! I can see doing it for a special occasion such as your wedding though.

Exactly :). I am tanning for 5 weeks, I don't think I will get skin cancer or any other issues by tanning for a mere 5 weeks. I know some friends that have been tanning constantly since age 16...they are now all 20 years old.

I asked the owner of the salon and he said to tan every 3 days until you get how dark you'd like. Once you get your desired darkness go once a week after that.

Oooh, I'm going to fake tan for my wedding too! I was thinking about the spray on tans instead of the sunbeds though.... But I've got a while yet.

You should take pictures of your progress so you can compare! I think after a while it's hard to see if you're actually tanning more or if you're just used to seeing it lol....

I tan easily, if I'm out in the sun constantly. Sadly, with our lovely British summers, there's not a great chance of that :p So fake it will have to be!

I'm scared about spray on tan, once I saw that friends episode with Ross and his botched up tan i'm way to scared to do it, coz what he did is something i'd do! bahaha. I'm olivey so I don't need to tan, just going about my day gets me all tanned.

My MIL tans 3 times a week, she's addicted to it.

I am so white, I burn even in those beds that say they won't burn you.

I got SUPER sunburned the day before my wedding. We went snorkelling, and neither of us re-applied sunblock. Face down in the water for 4 hours, in the middle of the day...............Jason was ok, a little pink, but since he's part Chinese, he mostly just looked darker. I, however, was lobster red from neck to heel. I could barely walk for the second week of our vacation, though I did manage to hobble through the wedding. It hurt to sit, lie down, stand, and walk. Will post a photo later. It's kind of funny, after the fact.

I've been told to tan 6 days a week, for now. The salon will let me know (or I will ask) when I should go less.

They set me at another 7 minutes today, but I was in the "hot bed". I am already noticing some color :D.

Here's one of my wedding pictures that shows off the sunburn I got the day before:

The dark red on the backs of my legs, arms, and back are not shadows, they are roasted skin! I was wearing a bikini that day, so my whole back side was burnt. (It took 2 months for the entire thing to blister and peel, and I STILL have lines where my bikini was. 6 months later.) The poor photographer couldn't get many shots without my burn showing. I was in SO much pain! We got married halfway through the trip, so the entire second half was spent with me in Total AGONY.

I know fake bake won't end up like this, but let this serve as a lesson: Don't spend the whole day in the sun the day before your wedding!!
