Hey guys...

So I noticed just a few cecal pellets in Flower's cage this morning, and have not seen any since, but also tonight noticed him burrowingunder the hay to eat all the bits of alfalfa leaves that had fallenbelow. Could it be that he's not eating enough of the actualSTEMS of the hay, and thus he's not getting enough roughage?

Have any of you had a bun that did this? I just put morefresh hay on top of the other hay, and I think he's just eating theleaves off of that, too. Is there any way to change things sohe eats the whole thing? Will getting the cubeshelp? He's eating all of the pellet food I give him (which Igive him unlimited), so he's not having a problem chewing hard things,or anything...

I'm puzzled...:?

The leaves are the buns favoritepart!!:bunnydance: So if you give them more alfalfa they will choose toeat what tast better. My mocha will also dig to find the leaves butonce she is done with them and only left with the stems I leave them inthere and dont refresh it because she has food but choosing not to eatit. If you always refresh their alfalfa they will become picky eaters. If they are hungry enough they will eat the stems. And besides, youwont be starving him, since he has his pellets. If you areafraid he is not getting enough roughage or fiber try giving him sometimothy hay since that is high in fiber, he might like the change;)!

Ah, ok. Thanks! I alreadygive him a mix of both Timothy and alfalfa, but it sounds like he'sbeing a picky guy. I'll keep from refreshing it tiltomorrow. I've seen him eating more of the actual stalkstoday, so hopefully he'll continue on that trend.

Another thing, I've noticed that he no longer has cecals, and today hehad a couple odd-shaped poops, but they weren't soft. So itsounds like he's being a good boy and eating what he shouldnow.

Thanks! I'll keep making sure he's eating his hay the right way. :)

Little Stinker!! :D
