After this bag I am planing to switch them to Acana. I don't know what formula, but it will be one of the grain free ones. I plan on switching the formula (protein) with each bag to give variety.

I also switched my dog, Slobbers, to Evo because it is grain-free. He had such horrible allergies that he was actually giving himself hotspots on his legs. Don't know if you caught my thread on it, but Evo and Orijen were recommended by forum members. The Evo was readily available, so that was what I started with first. Slobbers had great results and loves the food. He nommies his whole dish down when he is hungry and hasn't been itchy for quite some time now. It is pricey, but well worth it if I don't have to doctor with hotspots or watch him scratch himself to pieces.

I also switched my cats to the Evo feline formula in the hopes that they will have just as good of results as Slobbers did. They kept eating his food, so I figured they would enjoy the feline formula. I did cut the amount that I feed them because of the protein level, but they seem to be much more full and satisfied when they leave their dishes.

Amy i was looking and thinking of feeding the Evopet but the only place i can get it that is near to me is Pets Plus and i will NOT shop there, ugh

Kashi free feeds... :biggrin2:She doesn't over eat at ALL and eats only when we are watching. :DHer coat looks AWESOME on this food! She will eat ANYTHING you put in front of her.

Alicia....when we first got Sammy I put him on Eagle Pack Holistics. He LOVED this food, but at $18 for 6.6lbs....we just couldn't keep him on it. We switched him to Evo and he did really awesome on it. A few months ago, I was going through one of my "omg everything is so expensive!!" moods and slowly switched him to Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul. He ate the dog food for about a week and then got really runny poop and started puking. We immediately changed him back over Evo and within a day he was totally fine again. Needless to say, I won't feed him Chicken Soup again.

However, the rats eat Chicken Soup and so do the kitties. The cats food always seems to dissapear so quickly, even though they each get 1/2 cup a day. Chicken Soup costs me $26 for 18lbs for the kitties, so it does better for us money wise. Ideally, I'd love to have them back on Eagle Pack Holistics because that food did the best for them...but $21 for 6.6lbs is just not possible as I'd have to buy a new bag every 3 weeks. It just really started to add up and buying the larger bag wasn't any big savings.

The rats dog food changes each time I buy a small bag, about every 6 weeks. I like to rotate their dog food...so it can be anywhere from Innova, AvoDerm, Nutro, Solid Gold, etc.

Fran...What is Pet's Plus? Just a really crappy pet store? You could go to the local grain store and ask them if they can special order you in a bag of Evo, then order you in more when you are running low on the original bag. You might be able to get a sample offline from the company, to be sure you're dogs like it first.

ugh Pet's Plus is a crappy pet store, it is horrible and i wont buy anything there.

I tried to feed raw to Sammy...just some raw chicken giblets or whatever you called them. I just couldn't do it. I don't really like meat myself, so feeding him raw grossed me out.

I give props to those who can do it, though!

It grossed me out to at firstthen I found bravo and phoenixget one hamburger pady so I just open the package and drop it in with 1 200mg vitamin e capspil and 2 squirts of fish oil she is set.

Phoenix had soft stool for a few day then after a week she was fine.

I do raw one day kibble the next she only eats once a day. Works great

WOW just the thread i wanted!

Well Luca's old owner fed him... and okay.. food brand.. but not to my satisfaction. I was thinking of changing him to eukanuba? or Iams? What do you think? Except Iams test on animals like severely and apparently eukanuba is the same company??

What would you recommend? Keeping in mind we don't have most brands in NZ.

Definitely not Eukanuba or Iams....they are very bad foods.

Since I don't know much about NZ or what is there....you could look into trying to find a NZ dog forum or I can help do some research on the foods you have there when I get off work later.

:)

You could try ziwipeak. It is made in NZ and you can get it there. I believe it is a good product (a high end pet food store here sells it). I don't know about the price, but it would be way better than Iams or some of the other brands you can get.

Oh I wanted to add thats here in texas.

But it is not even suposed to be sold in texas. So that could make the prices a little higher
