Does Anyone Else....

Does anyone else find themselves checking local bunny rescues even if you aren't looking to adopt?

I can't help myself! It ends up making me sad seeing all the rabbits I can't adopt. Two is my limit. But why do I keep looking? I even go visit them sometimes!

And then when they aren't online anymore I find myself worrying if they were adopted or put to sleep


I've got issues....

Sometimes I look at the rescues, just to look. Then I look at the dogs and cats and make myself really sad thinking about all the unwanted animals.

I'm still on the fence about getting another bun.

Oh I know Morgan there are TOO many unwanted pets out there. So sad.....

It was a huge decision for me to get another bun but I have no regrets. I'm so glad I adopted this time around too

I only look when someone on here posts a link to a rabbit that they are thinking about adopting. I know myself to well. If I looked I would want and it would take over my whole life (like the rabbits already have). I can NOT get another rabbit no matter how much I want one. 2 in a 1bdrm apt is too many as it is in addition to the other animals I have with me. PLUS my parents would NEVER go for it, they want me to get rid of everything as it is. Those are some of the reasons why I do not look. There are more reasons though.

When we moved here, we have a lot less space, so we haven't been able to adopt as many as we'd really like to.

I don't... I know that I feel too sorry for them! I WOULD but then I'd feel super guilty.

I know how you feel though, poor poor buns!

I can't let myself look at buns anymore, particularly after being a foster failure. 6 is absolutely my bunny limit! I do keep an eye on petfinder for single finches though because they are so sad and one more in the flock won't hurt anything.

Oh yes, and not just rabbits either. Try being a vet student; people shower you with homeless animals.
One of my former roommates who is now a vet student at a different school is looking to adopt a rabbit soon so I've been stalking shelters near her too and imagining her with her new pet.
It's a problem.

I'm not tempted to bring home a shelter rabbit, cat, dog...at least for the most part. It's the little ones, those are the cuties, the puppies, kittens...you know.... If I don't go with my daughter when she visits the SPCA I'm afraid of what she could bring home, lol. When she's home from college we have 4 dogs and 2 cats in the house, three of which came from a shelter and one was rescued off the street. Goodness knows we don't need any more animals! :nono

I'm glad I'm not the only one! I won't have any more buns either. Two is my limit. So why in the world do I look I'll never know but I do........and then I'll see one that I can't get out of my mind.

Theres an adorable little white muppet in the shelter right now. I want so badly to adopt him. But I'm scared that my bunnies wouldn't bond into a trio, and I don't have room right now to have two separate rabbit houses.

I look, I can't help it really. I was on the verge of getting another rabbit but I thought different. That and my wife said no. Now I know I can fight her on it and get my way and it wouldn't be too much of a struggle but I think it would be unkind to my wife not to support her on this since its really out of concern if at this stage we can handle more then one rabbit. The future however is yet to be written so down the road that could change so its good to explore options.

lol I have one thing stopping me- the prospect of vet bills. That is the ONLY thing stopping me from adopting another. I know Acacia's condo is big enough for another her size but it would not be fair to either of them if I needed a vet.
I volunteer with the only small animal rescue in my province, it is run by a network of volunteers and fosters (kept strong and in touch by facebook). Since I cannot foster I look at the sweet things and try to advocate as much as I can that adopting is the kinder option. ESPECIALLY since my bunny's terrible tantrums were hard to deal with , I try to warn people not to buy from the pet store bc those rabbits are not socialised nor mature. Sexual hormones should turn them away so they adopt a mature spayed/neutered bunny from the rescue I always look at them though because their pictures always come on my facebook.

I check it all the time! When I find one I really like (looks really cute and has a good write up) I will keep checking it like everyday to see if he/she has found a home yet!

Omg that fuzziness, white fluff ball is ADORABLE!

Right now I'm "following/obsessed" with Vernon and Vanessa. A bonded Lionhead pair and they are so flipping cute. They are like 2 hours away from me too so not even in my town but I still look. Yeah, I'm a weirdo

That big Flemmie is adorable! So are the bonded Lionheads. How sad! I really hope they find homes.
