Ha ha - I can see a bit of a pattern developing Becca.:biggrin2::p

I do A2 level English literature...so yes I love reading!;)Right now we are studying "One flew over the Cuckoo's nest" which is amazing! One of my favourite books of all time.I've seen the film as well but it really just does not do the book justice at all.:nope:Ken Kesey is anfantastic writer and I just love the way Bromden is the narrator as his clear madness just adds to the whole fight against authority message. The only thing I'm iffy with is the negative representation of women, but it fits with the story so I let it slide.:biggrin2:

We are also studying 'Hamlet' at the moment but I don't like that nearly as much - but then I'm not really a fan of Shakespeare. Something me and my teacher argue about a lot!:p

I'm also having to do a lot of ww1 literature reading for my synoptic unit. I LOVE things like 'Journey's end' and some of the poetry however we have been advised to read 'Birdsong' which I hate.:grumpy:Bah. We also went to see 'Oh what alovely war' as part of the same unit and it was fantastic. So satirical and funny but very moving in places.:)

Anyway I'll stop now...I could talk about literature for ages!:D

I used to love the Animal Ark books when I was little! I only remember reading 'Hamster in the Holly' but I know I had alot!

I'm doing A level English Lang Lit, but our teacher refuses to let us know what our novel is! I'm looking forward to reading a novel, as last year we had to read a play (Much Ado About Nothing - which was SO GOOD!). At the moment I'm just doing poetry and coursework....

My favourite book is Lolita, which also happens to be my favourite film! Coincidently, 'Lola' is also my favourite song!

I love Dan Brown books too, and I recently read The Book Thief which was amazing.

Fran :) :hearts :brownbunny

i've read those:biggrin2:, but a bunch of them are by Ben M. Baglo(sp?), FYI

yeah, i love reading, me and my friend are both working on the newest Christopher Paolini book, Brisingr. love it so far:cool::biggrin2:, a bit violent, i wouldn't want to read that kinda thing all the time, but once in a while........:D

I love reading if I can find a good book!

Iused to lovethe mystery/suspense novels by Joan Lowery Nixon.. I've probably read like 20 of her books, if I see one I haven't read, I snatch it up! All have been extremely good. Also love Phyllis Reynolds Naylor and the Alice series..

I haven't been reading so much lately, but finally found a really great book that I loved. It's now one of my favourite books, Tuesday's with Morrie by Mitch Albon. I just loved it..

Now I feel like reading a good suspensebook..:p

I love to read but don't have as much time to do it as I used to.

I think that reading is one of the most important things we can do to educate ourselves and keep our brains working well. I started reading to my children when they were about a month old. Both love reading now - Luke isn't a book reader unless it's for school or things on the wars, cars, other non-fiction. Lexi reads A LOT!

When you get a chance, read the series here:

Mr. Stone lives near here and actually writes his books in a store we frequent often.

I personally love Stephen King (his older works), Janet Evanovich, Jodi Picoult (her book MY SISTER'S KEEPER is a 2009 upcoming movie!)

Yes Spring, wasn't Tuesdays with Morrie awesome? I read it on a long bus ride, and alternately laughed and cried...
Lucky seatmate :)

Another awesome book you guys might want to read is Life of Pi (Yann Martel). Family owns a zoo, and immigrates across the world on a boat, which sinks. All that is left is a little boy, and a huge tiger in a lifeboat.

you'd love it!
Also, I've read a lot of those animal books by Gerald Durrell :)

The Cat Who... mysteries by Lillian Jackson Braun are really good too :)
I've read deeper stuff, but they are very entertaining

just went to borders today and got a whole bunch of books! i swear i could spend hours there.

like a year or two ago i was really into fantasy. I still enjoy it but its hard finding a good book. I like the whole court intrigue, princesses and princes books. now there are all those vampire books in the fantasy section, ala twilight, wich i actually tried and hated, and not much else which kinda stinks.

Last year i was in a World Studies East class and read some AWESOME books about china and korea. a really good book is Wild Swans:ThreeDaughters of China. its kinda long but i read it in like a week. really facinating. its about three generations of women growing up in china, the grandma was at the end of the concubines and foot binding, then the mom is at the start of the communist revolution, and the daughter during. really intersting.

another one is Aquriums of Pyonang--totally moving, made me cry. about people in labor camps in north korea.

oh and When Broken Glass Floats. its about cambodia during the Khmr ruge. (spelling is off, i know.) this book is WAY better than First They Killed MY Father. ten times more moving and much better writtnen.

OH and They Poured Fire On Us From The Sky is a great read too. three little boys endure so much at ages of 5-7. they even cross a desert!!

i just got a book that looks really good, We Bought A Zoo-- a guy and his family buy/live on a rundown zoo and work on reopening it. i wish i could do that!

oh, and some also really good books (more young adult) are all of the books by Tamora Pierce. LOVE her!

phew! thats a lot! i can read a good book in a day or weekend, even if its like 500 pages....

My son read this book a couple of years ago and he totally loved it!

My daughter loved Life of Pi, and my youngest son is reading it now. I love most genres...the only ones I have trouble getting into are SciFi and Fantasy. My son and I loved the Brian Jacques Redwall series. They are awesome fantasy stories.

We are reading those now. My son is 12. I've gotten some on CD from the library too for trips. They are great books on CD too. The last one we read was Varjak Paw (about a cat) and we all loved it, even my husband. Great book to read as a family.

I don't read nearly as much as I used to; but still do tend to pick up a book from time to time. Lately I have been reading spiritually-based books (Kryon, Esther and Jerry Hicks, Wayne Dyer), but also went through a bit of a diversion when I picked up one of Richard Matheson's (I Am Legend). Then I read a few more of his...so well told, each of them.

I'm also a big Stephen King fan, but moreso of his older works than now. And when I was younger I read all of the James Herriot series, as well as an assortment of other animal stories. Have never been into mysteries or romance though, which is what my mom used to read.

Right now I'm reading "Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life" by Wayne Dyer. :)

*Forgot to add: My son recommended a book to me a while back and it's pretty awesome. It's called ''The Time Traveller's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger.

I read The Time Traveller's Wife. It is excellent! I've also enjoyed Diana Gabaldon's Outlander series.

We adore books on CD when we travel....sure beats fighting over whose music we'll listen to!

My son and daughter both love the Dark Tower series by Stephen King. My favorite of his books is Misery.

I never should've started typing.....we are book nuts here....I could go on forever!

adult books I've read recently and loved..

Rhett Butler's People

Thousand Splendid Suns

The Kite Runner

We Bought a Zoo

The Key Trilogy-Nora Roberts

all of the Elm Creek Novels...

just finished a "teen reader" series by Libba Bray...Rebel Angels. Sweet Far Thing..and....umm....dang....er...there's a third one but for the life of me...

I would consider it a bit more grown up than teen readers but then it's been awhile since I fit in that category!

oh...full disclosure....I work in a bookstore/smokeshop

AHH! i LOVED the great and terrible beauty/rebel angels/sweet far thing books!!!

so We boughta zoo is good? i am gonna start reading it soon, i got the book on sunday.

Just read "Water for Elephants"... really interesting. I've also got a major Robertson Davies fetish that started in highschool... Deptford Trilogy in Particular.

pumpkinandwhiskersmom, Outlander is such an AWESOME series. Seriously, once I pick up one of those books, I do not put it down for virtually any reason.

Have you read her new ones about John?

OOOH: anything by David Eddings (fantasy writer).!
BTW, I just bought the Science Fiction hall of fame compilations, last 4 editions! Great examples of short science fiction from 1940s to present...
