ok, back on topic..... I have found that washing my one rabbit is my only choice. He will lay in his own urine by choice (two huge litter boxes with two kinds of hay etc). When his house is cleaned he will sniff a minute, pee, and lay down in it. I tried the less invasive methods of a wash cloth and baby wipes. This works fairly well on a daily basis to prevent build up. But, once a week I give him a bath. I use the sprayer in my kitchen sink so I don't have to submerge him and can keep his back as dry as possible. I use a cat/kitten shampoo formulated for sensitive skin that sooths and helps to protect the skin. After I dry him as much as I can I put a little baby jumper on him so he won't get a chill until he's totally dry. My vet said it is better to wash him than let him stay soaked in urine (he gets it from tail to chin).
Unfortunately there are still emotional scars from his horrible upbringing. I am praying time will heal his heart and make him feel safe so he can stop this behavior. I guess 3 years of torture and filth needs more than a month of clean and kisses to change.
