i was absolutly mortified when i came across a video on youtube of some heartless idiot feeding a live , pet bunny to his snake , it left me in tears and i cant believe some one could even do that , surely its illegal for a start , whats even worse is that there were many other people who had also uploaded videos of there monstrous snakes murdering innocent bunnies.these people need to be imprisoned

I can understand how upsetting it is to watch but I don't think it's illegal.

This is one really good reason why you have to be very careful when re-homing a pet. You never know what is going to happen to them. Somesnake owners will even go buy rabbits, guinea pigs, etc. from a petstore to feed to their snake(s). I'm not so sure it's necessary to feed live animals to snakes,I think the people just get some kind of amusement watching it :X

its so cruel ....im pretty sure it is illegal in england as you can get arrested for animal cruelty /banned from keeping animals for things like poor living conditions , so would imagine if you got caught with domestic pets that u were feeding snakes you would be in a lot of trouble or at least banned from having domestic pets

It's not illegal. It sucks, I do agree, I could never own areptile that eats anything other than insects. Some people have a fascination for snakes and enjoy watching such things. I am not one of them.

You know, it can actually be dangerous to the snake to be feeding live food. They can be injured by the intended food and or become ill if they are fed a sick animal.

There are much better options for feeding snakes than live food. It's the same thing with feeding large predatory fish. So many people feed live goldfish when infact they really aren't good for whatever is eating them and you alsotake a big risk in spreading disease and parasites into your tank.

I think there are just people who get their jollies by watching it.

have checked and its definatly illegal to feed live food in england it has to be dead and frozen , still doesnt make it any better for the poor bunnies overseas that get subjected to this cruelty , am in shock that many of these sickos are actually ableto purchase rabbits from a pet store to feed to snakes one person even said he had a discount card from a pet store to get live domestic bunnies for his snake , surely these places should be banned from selling bunnies for that purpose , im finding the whole situation very disturbing

It is awful that this happens, but aside from working on getting laws changed there's nothing we can do. Snakes have to eat too, and I've been told that some simply won't eat food that's already dead even if they are starving.
