So most of you know, Agnes got spayed Friday.

She is doing REALLY good :) (all that stressing for nothing) As of yesterday afternoon, she was begging to get out of her cage. She no longer just sits in one spot, she is moving all over. She is eating good, just all is going well.

So the vet said no free run for a week! I'm not saying today, but I'm thinking this is gonna be tough to keep her in for a week! She wants out bad!! Plus, the 2nd and 3rd floors of her condo are blocked too. I kinda feel guilty.....

So , did you all keep your females confined for a week after spay?

Yea, I followed vet directions. She said no running or jumping for 10-14 days. So I put Faith in an x-large dog crate w/ no levels for the full 14 days. I felt sorry for her, but not as horrible as I would have felt if I didn't listen and she ripped her stiches!
You're gonna get the stink eye from her but it's worth waiting. It will be over before you know it

^^^isnt that the truth! Haha, she's just disgusted with me!! like she's rolling her eyes at her mean mom.....;)

Thanks for the advice. I just wasn't sure since she was doing so good if that changed anything. But you are right, I don't want her to tear her stitches.

I followed vet instructions, but I'm not sure if Teddy even WANTED to move around for the first week or so. She didn't take the spay so well, and it's probably because of her age... whatever age that may be. My vet didn't tell me 14 days though, they told me 5 days in the cage and then 5 days of being allowed out, but making sure she didn't jump up onto furniture or anything like that. Did they give her the kind of stitches that dissolve away or do you have to go back in to get them removed?

They are the dissolvable ones.

Yeah, I'm surprised she is moving around so good. This whole surgery went SOOOO good. Her incision looks amazing too! Turns out the reviews on the vet I picked were true. He did a wonderful job.

This is gonna be a long week for Agnes! Lol when I go to change her litterbox she is begging to het out.

Poor Agnes. :(

If you can put a small penned area where she can't jump you can let her stretch her legs.

With Becky I let her out after three days. She jumped on and off the bed and her tummy started to bleed a little. I felt SSSOOOOOO guilty! So when it came time for Sophie I made her stay confined for the week no matter how much she wanted out.

No jumping & no free-roaming. But she shouldn't be completely confined, either. If she has enough room for a couple hops, that should be good for a week & a little more room after that.

Definitely no jumping and you don't want her running around doing bunny 500's, but yeah if you have a small pen you might give her some time to explore something different.

Thanks guys :)

Yep, I have a small bathroom off her area she can run around in at least...still...in feel bad...

Yup! I'm def going to follow vets orders. I am preparing Bugsy's old cage (XL dog crate) for when he gets out. My poor baby, i'm starting to really worry about it. Glad to hear she is doing well and all that stressing was for NADA! :D

I am following directions. But the vet told me he just needs to be kept in his cage for at least a week because that is when he is going to get his stitches out.

Feel better Agnes!
