I LOVE Halloumi!

When me and Steve were on holiday in Corfu a couple of years ago, Steve got hooked on Saganaki, which is basically a big lump of halloumi covered in breadcrumbs and fried, served with fresh lemon on the side. It must be so so bad for you, but it was so nice!

Just yesterday I made some cous-cous, and then fried half a courgette, half a yellow pepper, some sundried tomatoes and cubes of halloumi and added them to the cous-cous. Such a nice lunch! :D

Or, in the summer I made vegetable kebabs using pepper, cherry tomatoes, courgettes and halloumi all threaded onto sticks... Kept my vegetarian brother happy when I had a BBQ :)

I especially like sheep's milk cheese
I LOVE sheep milk cheese. In fact I love all cheese, but sheep milk is my favourite. It is especially good for people with allergies, eczema, psoraisis(sp) etc

I used to work in a cafe at a cheese farm - it was above where we made all the cheese, and it was such a temptation. We made a wonderful cheese soup, cheese scones, cheesecake etc :)

This is making me really want to eat cheese.... But I'm going to bed soon, I don't want to have strange dreams!

Maybe I should just eat the cheese and brave the dreams anyway...... :D

I love cheese too! Its my favorite food. I'm very addicted to it.
RIP cheese, I will miss you :(
I love cheese too. :D

If I eat too much, I will get sick. I take pills (lactase enzymes) when I have dairy products.
I am having a pizza right now. :p

I love cheese too but it doesn't love me!! LOL

I have Crohn's Disease so I can't eat too much dairy or I sends me to living in the bathroom.

I, too, am a cheese-lovin' fool. My dad's called me The Cheese Mouse all my life, for my love of cheese.

I will try it with anything...and have yet to find something I didn't like to add it to!

I am a cheese addict.  I've never met a cheese I didn't like.  I was in heaven when I visited New Zealand and found that their supermarkets had huge rooms devoted to cheese.  I had the best cheese of my life there.

Are you for real:shock: Where? I've never seen as cheese room in the supermarkets. Our cheese is shocking, we do produce some delightful bries and camebert but we have such a limited selection and we have no un pasturised ones:( I really really like a good Edam and Brie with chicken and cranberry jelly as a toastie! *Drools.

Sounds like we have a bunch of cheesy people out there!

Sorry to freak out those of you who hate "fake" cheese, but I have to tell this on my 17 year old: When he was in 7th grade, he was absolutely ADDICTED to canned cheese spray. He took it to school with crackers for lunch every single day that year. When school was finishing up andthey were signing each other's yearbooks, he didn't sign his name to anything...he just drewcans of Squeeze Cheeze.

I was in Whangerie - they had two large markets and they both had large rooms totally devoted to cheese. I would buy a selection of cheeses and crackers and some wine and bring them back to the hotel - dinner!

you kno the laughing cow chesse spreads, i a triangle shape. i have a weakness for them!!!! i fell i love with chesse spreads

Being from Wisconsin, the "cheese area" in the grocery store is always bigger than any other dairy product area! Will and I always cruise down the aisle and look for our cheeses. Mostly, we get mild cheddar, mozzarella, colby-jack, colby and pepper-jack. In our local grocery store, Pick'N'Save, they have two cheese areas. There is the main one in the back by the other dairy stuff, and the other one is for the "fancy cheeses" and is up front near the deli counter. That's where they hide all the goat cheese, fancy cheese, and the weird stuff. Will and I like to poke at the soft mozzarella balls in their packaging.

I love the cheez-whiz in a can, too! I never was as in love with it as your son, wabbitmom12! :p I love the Easy-Cheese brand and Merkt's port wine cheese spread. I love the Easy-Cheese on Ritz crackers with summer sausage. The Merkt's port wine is great with garlic-flavored pretzel thins (look like flat pretzels).

Will's mom always asks us to bring her some good Wisconsin cheese when we visit. We always forgot to bring it when they lived in Michigan. Now, they live in Oklahoma, and I doubt we're going to visit them out there because it is so far away. :(

Also, we buy out "cheap cheese" at Aldi. For you cheesey fans out there, Aldi is cheaper and their cheese tastes just as good, if not better! :) It's only $2 a package (8 ounce, I think?). I don't remember, but that's where we get out cheese from and we buy about 5-10 packages of it so we don't have to keep running out to the store!

I ended up buying cheese that wasn't on my shopping list for the week, thanks to this thread!

Found some Haloumi in my regular store, cheaper than Whole Foods. Goat cheese crumbles for pizza. And I got some Kalamata olives to go with that big chunk of Feta I've got in the fridge.

Yum.

What sort of cheese is colby jack etc? I've never ever seen it over here I don't think! I think I saw it in a store in San Francisco but silly me, never thought to buy cheese and take it back to my hotel room lol! Ooooh, apart from cheesy nacho dip, in a can? I've not seen that over here for ages, its AMAZING! I could literally eat that and tortilla chips allll day.... :D

I'm about to make macaroni cheese for dinner tonight :biggrin2::biggrin2::biggrin2:

Colby is a yellow cheese similar to Cheddar, but doesn't get processed quite the same. It's milder, softer, moister than Cheddar. Colby can't be aged, so it won't ever develop the sharpness that Cheddar has. It will also dry out much faster than some other cheeses. I like it for snacking, but it isn't used in cooking very much.Monterey Jack is a white cheese, also not aged very long, very mild flavor. Colby-Jack is a marbled version of Colby and Monterey Jack, and Pepper Jack is just Monterey Jack with small bits of hot peppers mixed in. Pepper Jack is pretty good melted for quesadillas, but to me the plain Monterey Jack doesn't have much flavor on it's own. Ok on a really good cracker.

I'll be having a grilled cheese sandwich for dinner. :D

everybody on my mom's list this year dropped very big hints that they wanted Wisconsin cheese this year LOL

so she went here--

and had stuff sent...

I stumbled onto a "tasting day" at Pick on monday...they had little samples of cheese everywhere!! just my normal shopping trip but needless to say I didn't need to have lunch when I got home!

I'm a cheddar girl myself...although...I seem to be developing an addiction to String cheese of all things (even Bella wants a piece....I haven't asked Lola...she's more of carrot kinda bun!)
